The Shelby Q

Food is good but the hours change so you have to be on the lookout.

Stopped into The Shelby Q today for a bite, I was greeted warmly by the Owner, Mike, and that's when it hit me... The smell! That wonderful aroma of smoked and barbecued meats, mixed with a little sweet and smokiness of baked beans.. my moth immediately started to water. I ordered a pulled pork platter with corn casserole and coleslaw, I got the mild sauce, and a drink and it was less than $8. The pork was tender with a good smoke to it, and with the sauce on the side I was able to taste just the meat before it was masked in any way by the sauce. The sauce was sweet and tangy with a warmth but not heat. The Cole slaw was crisp with a bit of a bite that offset and complemented the richness of the sauce very well, and the corn casserole was sweet and rich with some crunch from the corn kernels cooked right into it. Over all a very well made bbq dinner and a very fair price. The store was comfortable and clean, and again, the owner was polite, friendly, and inviting. Definitely a new "go to" for bbq In the area.
