“Well I’m no Alton Brown but I’ve had a few burgers in my day. Best double cheeseburger in America? Maybe it’s the best he’s had so far and I find that reasonable, but there’s a few spots back in Texas he needs to check out. For a bar that also does burgers it’s pretty dang good tho. Throw in some pimento cheese fries and a Gold Rush cocktail and you’ve got yourself a great, well priced meal. Just a heads up they only have bar seating and a few tables for couples, or a 8-10 person table and some probably 8-person booths so it’s likely you’ll have to get comfortable with strangers if you’re looking to sit down and stay awhile. You also need to order at the bar. Service was good for the amount of staff and number of patrons already there and arriving.”

“Excellent! We were sat on the entrance where the host stand is at. We entered via the bank. We didn’t get to see much of the actual restaurant but can tell it’s nice. Where we were was a little cramped but not too bad. People were in and out. The food was amazing! Everything we had was delicious. The best surf and turf I’ve ever had too. My husband got two cocktails. An old fashioned and the Kentucky maid which was so good. Paul was our server, he came off not really personable but he tended to our needs. The mushrooms came out completely charred and inedible, so he swapped it for the corn. Super good. He gave us a complimentary dessert because we were celebrating my husband’s career and we were so thankful. Will definitely be back to celebrate !”

“This place is so underrated. The pastries are top notch. We have so many good bakeries in this town, make sure to show Gilded Acorn some love from time to time. I went here on a Saturday (free parking downtown all day) and walked right in and was promptly helped. The pastry case looked like something out of a movie. I got a few pastries to go (vanilla rum cruffin, ham and cheese croissant, cinnamon roll, and apple danish). I was very impressed with everything we ordered. I am excited to go back to try some of their savory options and possibly High Tea!”

“This is always going to be a good option for those who need to keep a watch on calories, but I was a not really feeling it with the taste. The Spicy Club sandwich was not spicy and was just throw together. It had a good flavor and it was fresh, but it just didn’t satisfy me. The smoothie was pretty good, but the only reason I ordered this one is because they ran out of bananas. Most of the smoothies have bananas in them. The cookie was the best part. Soft and lemony! “I stopped by and got an iced vanilla latte. It was a little difficult to locate as it is in the library but no big deal. My coffee was fantastic! They nailed the balance of milk and bitterness of espresso. It was Also not overly sweet. I like this shop, the only reason I wouldn’t recommend it to someone is because they don’t use organic whole milk and they charge a $1 for oat milk and ¢75 for flavor so if you like upgrading your coffee probably find somewhere that doesn’t up-charge. The aesthetic was A1 though. They drew pictures on our cups and wrote nice little notes for us, definitely made it feel more personal. Next time I’m here I DEFINITELY want to try that cinnamon roll.”
