The Canebrake restaurant at Fort Gibson Lake was putting on a special for Valentine's Day so my wife and I decided to attend. The location is somewhat remote out by Long Bay Marina on Ft Gibson Lake but once you arrive it is quite nice. We had a 7pm reservation but we arrived 15 minutes or so early. They still seated us right away. The room was decorated for the event and the ambiance was very romantic. There was a violinist playing music throughout the evening. The meal started with pink rose champagne and a charcuterie board for two. It was fantastic! Next was a choice of soup. We both decided on the sausage and potato and it was delicious. Next salad. We both went with a Caesar salad and it was decent but nothing special. The main course was a choice between 8oz filet, blackened salmon, grilled pork chop, and chicken Marsala. My wife chose the salmon and I went with the filet. We ordered cocktails as well. My wife was pleased with hers but my margarita was overly sweet and I didn't taste much alcohol. When the entrees arrived the steak was decent but it was a bit overcooked and nowhere near as tender and juicy as other filets I have had. My wife was happy with her salmon. The last course was dessert. I ordered a house made cheesecake and my wife ordered a lemon leches cake. The cheesecake was by far the best part of the meal for me. It definitely tasted house made and fresh. My wife was happy with her dessert as well. Service was prompt and attentive all night. All in all it was a fun evening and I would definitely consider Canebrake again in the future!

We had a great experience at The Canebrake. Totally unexpected as to how very nice it was. The cabins are not cabin-like decor but very up-to-date and very comfortable—terrific atmosphere in the room I shared with three friends. The room was extremely clean, bed comfortable, nice large shower. To top it off, we found all the staff very accommodating and most welcoming!! We’ll go again for a family weekend outing.
