I told the Hubs I didn't want pub grub but the Hubs needs to get his way too. Sometimes. I am so glad he did. It was "Burger Tuesday" and they were delicious! Hand made 1/3 lb burger patty on bakery fresh buns served with excellent fries. I had a Bacon Bleu that was seriously phenomenal! The Hubs had the Western BBQ that he proclaimed as his new favorite. The server was personable and prompt. We will definitely be back!
What an amazing experience to spend a Friday night at the Portway!! Charming 'dive' with interesting history, great food, and friendly locals! Cindi, the karaoke host, was a true professional and put on THE BEST karaoke show we have ever seen! A truly fun professional who made it welcoming for all! A must for anyone looking for an awesome bar experience in Astoria!
Great burgers and everything else! You can't go wrong with whatever you order. Fun place, local hang out. I always have a good time and since I have a boat at the marina, I pop in there quite a bit to warm up and have a bite and a cocktail or beer.
If you like karaoke, Portway is the bar for you! Karaoke Thursday to Saturday. I have been to MANY MANY karaoke bars over the years, and the KJ here is leaps and bounds above any other I've seen. Her enthusiasm is contagious and her percussive additions are entertainment genius. Portway also has great burger options!
One of the best nights of my life I spent here with hubby a few years back. The sweetest waitress/bartender, and the food was so good. I had a hamburger and hubby had a steak. The rim and colors were so good and refreshing too. A friend came later, and I sang karaoke (the DJ was amazing and super fun. We even bought a a sweatshirt and a t shirt from the tavern. The nautical decor was so charming along with the old black and white photographs. The place was clean too. We unfortunately retired to Texas five months ago, so we probably can’t come back, but we still talk about it. Our memories came with us to Texas luckily.
