We had delicious meals at the Dive. The service was friendly and great. The hamburger was large, fresh and delicious, as were the french fries. I love skinny fries! Clam Chowder was excellent! (One warning that has nothing to do with this restaurant though, watch out for the speed trap in Port Orford!)
They advertise that they are open until 7 p.m. so we tried to go to dinner there last night at 6:20 and they wouldn’t seat us, said we could order take out only. When we said they say they are open until 7 the poor young lady who was hostess, said they have to clean the kitchen so they couldn’t seat us at 6:20. I felt so bad for her that she is put in that position every night. What a nightmare job. Bottom line, Port Orford is a very small town with only a couple of restaurants, many of which are closed on Tuesdays ( the day we went) it is summer for crying out loud. Simply
put, they don’t have any interest in serving people dinner. If you plan to go there for dinner make sure you get there way before they say they close or call and ask how late they seat for dinner. We were hoping to have fish and chips as we heard it was good there but can’t say because we couldn’t eat. The same people owned another restaurant (now closed-surprise!) and they closed at 6 p.m. I just don’t get it.
An UPDATE REVIEW: we went back and had lunch here, the waiter was great, we had fish and chips and my friend had a burger, all very good.
Terrific lunch! Huge menu with lots of options! Excellent customer service and cool atmosphere!!
BACK for their Sunday Brunch!!
Incredible!! Delightful menu!! Really creative. Not your average breakfast offerings- truly unique.
The bennys are terrific & waffle too!
My wife and I love this place. Friendly atmosphere, good food and drink at a reasonable price. We live locally so understand the issues around staffing but never any issues... they're busy cause they have good food!!
I've personally tried the sampler, tacos, a noodle bowl, the French dip, the chowder and a fish sandwich. All have been excellent...if you want to not pick maybe one taco was slightly dry. I think their chowder could win competitions... it's that good. Lunch for two with a couple beers each runs around $50-60.
Do I wish they were open more...you bet!! But I work retail and know how important time off is. So I settle for what I can get...Taco Tuesday!! Give these folks a try...good food and friendly service and if you have to wait a little enjoy a beer and strike up a conversation with someone nearby. Totally worth it... we're customers for as long as they are open!!
