I've been here several times and had the same experience each time:
1) Food. Tastes good, but takes a long time to come out and often comes out cool.
2) Sound. The location is really echoey and this is especially apparent when they have live music , which is generally too loud to have a conversation over comfortably.
3) Service. The service staff are courteous and prompt. They do a good job.
4) Temperature. It's always too cold? Even in the summer when it's super hot out, they blast the AC and it's chilly enough to warrant a sweater (which you likely are not carrying because it's hot outside). Likewise, in the winter it is cold and I have never removed my coat in this establishment.
Viking atmosphere is fun here. I'm not a drinker but tasted my husband's honey beer that was so good, I had the meatball appetizer that was very good. A special of Viking stew was very delicious.
Their selection of alcoholic drinks are very creative and sound delicious.
My husband also had some kind of alcoholic berry drink. It was good too.
Awesome place to hang out with friends or even alone!! The staff is super amazing, very nice people!! Great prices!! The smothered fries are heavenly!! First Sat of every month they have a wonderful trio of guys playing there!! Me and my hubby had a really fun night!! The best time ever!! Atmosphere is fantastic!! Nice and clean!! Love it!! Love it!!
Good food. Good beer. The service from time to time is a little slow and doesn't seem to be paying attention. Not anything agregious, just standard lackadaisical customer service. Nothing to get too frustrated by. But far from exceptional.
I love the way everything looks inside with the wood. But I will say that the benches are like sitting on concrete. I can only do it for about an hour until my backside starts to ache too much. So really, for me it's a quick in-and-out, a pint or 2 and a slice of pizza.
Eugene's only brewery with a full bar and a great kitchen! Best french fies in town, no doubt. Live music on the patio is the perfect spot, plus they run the live band feed into the house speakers inside... classy! Perfect service from super knowledgeable staff. Everyone that works there is a seasoned pro. They serve excellent and uniquely inspired Braggot (beers brewed with some honey as well as grains). I love the Battle Axe (IPA), Reverence (red ale), and pineapple double IPA; but that's cause I have a very narrow-minded palate. All of their other beers are super interesting too. I can't wait to try some of their more Viking/Scandinavian menu items. I saw a pubtalk in the back room about the future of journalism, and it was the perfect venue for a presentation to 30-50 people. I've never done trivia night there, but I hear its bustling. Can't wait for this autumn's Winter Night Festival!
Viking Braggot Southtowne also has the nicest looking alley in all of Eugene (seriously).
