Ordered quite a few items to go. Showed up at the exact time their website said to show up and my order was ready. Great! Quick, 5 minute drive home and everything is cold; pizza, roasted veggies, hot wings...
Given this style of pizza usually cooks very fast, I’m guessing it sat for a while. The flavor of everything was really good, pizza consistency was great, right amount of toppings for this style, roasted veggies had a bunch of flavor and tasted fresh, and chicken wings were good, although not spicy, very small, and all legs.
We will probably give it one more shot, but when we can choose to dine in and eat the pizzas right out of the oven. If you are planning to grab take out or delivery, you might be happier sticking with more traditional pizza.
The Pizza has potential to be great but is undercooked in my opinion. A neapolitan pizza's crust is so thin, it needs to be crispy. The pizza at Pizzeria Otto is soggy/floppy in the middle and just falls apart. It does taste good though, so I give the Pizza 3/5 stars. I called in yesterday evening to give them a second try, and simply requested that they give it some extra time in the oven for me. And that I don't mind some char. Didn't seem unreasonable. The lady on the phone was kind of rude and basically told me no. And that they prefer their Pizza this way. I was unaware they would be eating the pizza for me.... I took away another star for poor customer service. Won't be back!
Edit - Just read some info on Neapolitan style Pizza, and it looks like what I prefer is the Roman interpretation. So I gave back another star.
I love me a good neapolitan pizza. Good service, great happy hour deals, cheap beers, cozy atmosphere, and (of course) good pizza. Nothing quite like a brick-oven thin crust pizza with fresh basil and huge blobs of mozzarella drizzled in red pepper infused olive oil.
I've been meaning to come here for a while. This place has a great happy hour from 11am-5 pm and after 8pm. I came before 5 and got the margherita pizza which only cost $6. This is one of best wood-fired pizzas in town. The dough is chewy and the tomato sauce has the right amount of tartness to it. The pizza came with the perfect amount of char from the fire. Highly recommended.
Pizzeria Otto is our family's fav Pizza place in all of Portland! As a former Chicagoan, I had to educate myself about Otto's Neapolitan style pies. The thin, soft crust is quite a departure from Chi-town deep dish, but Otto made me a fan though and through. The staff is very friendly and it's a great place for kids young and old. We even had grandpa's 70th b-day party here.
