Absolutely LOVE this place. It wasn't on my list of foodie places to visit when I first arrived in Portland a year ago, but a local that I met in the airport said to go. SO happy I did! Make-your-own pancakes, griddle in the middle of the table, with a wonderful variety of build-your-own sweet and savory toppings (even vegan meat alternatives!) The pancake batter is to die for. What sets this place apart is the staff. I visited Portland with my husband for his birthday and, even though it wasn't his birthday, the staff have him a birthday treat just because. They also gave us other fabulous food recommendations in the city. Clean restaurant interior, perfect for small kids and family gatherings. We will be back!

So much fun & tasty! Vegan and gluten free options also. Very busy, so plan ahead. It’s worth it. We had drinks while we waited. Tasty Bloody Mary to start

This place is cool but be prepared for a long wait to be seated. Guess that indicates how much a place to go, this is. I've only gone on weekends a couple times but both were long waits. Food was great, no complaints. You can order from the kitchen or cook your own pancakes etc on the griddles that are built right into your table. My kids were really into the cook it there way you like it on our griddle.

The pancake griddle was a hit for my son's birthday breakfast! Everyone had fun making our masterpieces! The seasonal lemon poppyseed batter was excellent. The rhubarb compote was a bit under ripe though.
My husband ordered the regular mimosa and I splurged for the rose mimosa. It was way too sweet to drink. It tasted like pure syrup.
We also ordered the candied bacon and it was super soggy and we chose not to eat it. I was a bit surprised the server never asked us how our meal was otherwise I probably would have switched to a regular mimosa and sent the bacon back, but we were even more surprised that our meal for the 3 of us was $80. Oh well. It's a cute spot to treat your kids or out of town guests but at the price and level of service, I doubt we'll return for any other reason.

We always love Slappy Cakes for the fact that you get to make your own pancakes, but don't miss the other food on the menu. The Chicken Fried Bacon with Caramel Sauce is amazing. All of their entrees, from omelettes to avocado toast , are delicious and large portions. Some people next to use today asked why someone would get something other than pancakes. Well the answer is that many of the entrees are extraordinary. (Here's looking at you Breakfast Tacos.) And of there is a long wait for the griddle tables, don't despair. The pancakes they cook for you are some of the best I have ever had.
