INTENTIONAL! Home baked bread, locally sourced food, I got a Bloody Mary with the best homemade pickled garnishes, the corn cakes with greens, eggs, bacon and maple syrup, and the Marionberry pie with whipped cream. It was all so savory, hearty, filling and yum. The sweet staff, plants and a record player add the right ambience.
What an amazing Brunch place! The food is delicious and unlike that of other brunch spots making full use of unique ingredients! The house Beet Bloody Mary mix is phenomenal! And the BLB Sandwich.... delicious! Not to mention the staff is friendly and makes you feel at home in this neighborhood eatery!
This is a great brunch place to kickstart your Saturday morning. The place is quite popular so get ready to wait about 30 mins to get seated and get your food.
Tip: there is no waiting list. Get in and order at the counter. Once your table is ready waiter will seat you and bring your food.
Come check it out. Places like Sweedeedee makes Portland food culture hip and vibrant as it is.
I'll start with the good. The food here is simple, but exceptionally tasty. I very much appreciate that they support local farms and their menu features in season produce. The drip coffee tasted great. The decor is relaxed and cozy. I very much want them to succeed, which is why I need to say their service is awful- or at least it was on this occasion that I visited. In order to be seated you must approach the payment counter, order, be put on a list, wait to be seated. As per Portland breakfast protocol there was a wait. Unfortunately I had to rely on another patron to fill me in on all of this because there was zero signage or instruction. When I approached the counter, I was met with ambivalence and dare I say annoyance. I get it, it's Saturday morning, nobody wants to be at work, but come on! Both the water and creamer dispensers were empty and when I asked politely for a replacement I was met with frustration. I just don't get it. They appeared to have plentiful staff but we still waited a long time for our food. It would be beneficial for them if they could address their poor service.
A fave Portland breakfast or lunch spot of mine. Choose non-busy times and you will be the most happy. They use handmade ceramics!
