As a couple, we Recently I went to the newly opened Father and Son Pizzeria and had a small Italian calzone and Italian hoagie. The small calzone was huge and lasted for 2 meals. The calzone and hoagie were both delicious. I didn’t leave a review then because I wanted to wait until I had the chance to have their pizza. We ordered a “meat lovers” pizza and were NOT disappointed! It was stupendous! It was delivered on time and was hot on arrival. I can’t say enough about this place. They’ll be getting our business from now on!
This place apparently had a location on Babcock Blvd many years ago. The current owner's father ran the place, and now, it's the son turn with the family business. It's also very cool that they opened on Father's Day as a tribute to the owner's dad. Anyway, I was pretty hungry so I needed up ordering a medium plain cheese calzone and a Philly cheese steak hoagie (I'm on a hoagie roll recently).
I must say the prices are super reasonable. Not 'oh geez that's a steal' but good still good. Portion sizes for both of my items were more than satisfying. Now, since the place recently opened and had a great backstory, I was hoping to give a more positive review, but I want to give them some constructive criticism.
First of all, they did unfortunately get my order wrong. Instead of giving the Philly Cheesesteak hoagie, they gave me their regular steak hoagie. This hoagie had lettuce, tomato, and Mayo and very little mushrooms. This unfortunately kind of ruined the hoagie for me. I'm not a fan of Mayo or lettuce and there were lots of those items in this hoagie. Still, the price was reasonable, and the steak itself was very good. Tasted like real steak, not the weird stuff some other places give you.
The calzone was quite good. Again, size was great for the price. They used a creamy and smooth form of ricotta, which I was a fan of. There is also tomato sauce on the inside, but they don't give you anything to dip the calzone in. The calzone is also quite heavy on the bread, and there is even a bread knot they serve with it. Overall, this was a decently good calzone, but nothing special.
All in all, I definitely like the backstory to this place. But, the food itself isn't the greatest in my opinion. Maybe they just need to get accustomed to online ordering. The experience would have been a lot better if they had gotten my hoagie order right.
Must Try!!!!
Literally the best pizza joint in the area!!
The owner, Jeff is amazing and takes much pride in his business and product that he delivers. Very impressed and will be ordering from here on the weekly for good!! If there is any local pizza shop to try, THIS IS THE ONE!!!
Super flavorful and a really nice looking pizza. It was picture perfect. Nice folks working there!! Thanks for opening up near us!
I highly recommend making this your next pizza stop. I called in for pickup and I was greeted with a very friendly voice where I felt like I was already a valued customer. They are even more than happy to make suggestions to you as well. When I arrived to pick-up my order, I was greeted with smiling faces and felt like I was part of their family. Again, I felt like a valued customer and not just someone that was an inconvenience. I ordered Pizza and Wings and they both were absolutely amazing. The food was hot and definitely hit the spot. Jeff and the rest of the family will make sure you are more than happy and satisfied with the whole experience from ordering to picking up to making sure everything tasted exceptional. I will definitely be a returning customer and I highly suggest you give them a call and make Father and Son Pizzeria your dinner choice tonight! Thank you all for everything!! 5 Stars in all aspects of the business!!
