Golden Bowl Restaurant

Five stars earned for the great value of lunch specials, Hong Kong style service and quietness. The dim sum and dishes are authentic enough. Some are Americanized, sure. If I were to raise the bar and compare this place to all the great joints I get to go to in Boston, NYC, Bay area or just Philly Chinatown, I can easily lower the stars. But I’m rating the overall value of this place. I can walk up there any day I’m working from home office and enjoy a relaxing and fulfulling meal for the price of a Septa train round trip to Chinatown. The staff are efficient and attentive, yet NOT INTRUSIVE. Interupting conversation or Netflix show for the sake of a “Is everything okay?” is not good practice for earning high tips. If anything, I threaten to cancel the tip if that’s done excessively (like more than two times during the meal). But this place knows when to refill the teapot for you and when to just leave me alone. That subtlety is golden!

Just got dinner it was a wonderful experience. The host and waiter were so nice. I ordered my food and did not like it so I asked if I could get something else expecting to pay for both and they took my first meal off of the bill. I will be eating there again when I am back in town.

Inexpensive, fresh chinese on the mainline. Can’t beat that.
