Charleston's SORGHUM & SALT... a gastronomic journey with unique combinations and tasty temptations. A unique dining experience, great staff, informed servers. We tried to taste all the flavors. All in a small rustic storefront setting.
Small off the beaten path restaurant that is totally worth checking out. Most plates are small, but picking at least 1 item from each section will leave you full. We had the homemade ricotta, zucchini bread, gnocchi and short ribs. Everything was unique and delicious. We will be back.
This is a gem. They can cook. Wanted to eat everything on the menu but ran out of space! Every single thing we ordered was out of this world. Just incredible. The plates are by the way not small. They are perfectly sized and perfectly seasoned, highlights each and every flavor and vegetable. You can tell this is a person who gets the intricacies of food - a class act!
The food here is 6 stars... the ambiance is 3. So long as you know that going in, you’re in for a treat.
We were disappointed that this place looks like a campus pizza joint. Cement floors, wobbly tables, steel chairs, eclectic world beats and hip hop on a cheap speaker.... it’s also “overly casual” with no attention paid to special occasions, etc.
BUT... But the food shines. Every plate is innovative and carefully prepared.
And to me (unlike other reviewers) the plates are GENEROUSLY sized.
The Lamb “Large” plate was much bigger than our entree the night before (at Tempest: 5+ stars!), and even the “Small” trout dish was ample for 2 to share, and enough for 3 to taste.
We had 2 smalls, a “Share” and the lamb “Large” plate and left quite full.
Oh! And the beet dessert.
NOTHING BEATS THE BEET!
Thanks Averill!
