We were looking for a hotdog in Custer and found the Prairie Dog, but the menu got the best of us. We ended up having the bison Philly cheesesteak and the Goldrush tatertots. Both were delicious. So flavorful. Michael and Jimmie were great, explaining the menu and sauces. So good! Now we just have to go back. For a hotdog!!
After enjoying a morning of trails we stumbled across this gem!
Seriously it’s just off the main road and the owner is wonderful. The food though…. PHENOMENAL. Check this guy out and keep a small business that deserves all the stars open.
We tried the bison Philly and the tatanka dog. Both of which I will be craving for months to come. The gold rush is a hangover cure sent from the heavens.
Try all of it, say hi to the kindest owner. And enjoy the rest of your black hills adventure. ❤️
Awesome food truck in Custer, SD. We had a bison burger and my fav was the Gold Rush. Great option when you want good food at a very reasonable price. Customer service by the owner was friendly and personable. We will definitely eat here when we come back. Pre-Covid pricing too!
I came in with my family recently just passing through and decided to stop by after camping. This place is the real deal! The bison here is tender and that in of itself is a skill beyond magic. The owners were welcoming and treated us kindly. They've nailed the title of artisan, as they have truly mastered making hot dogs and more. There's passion and care with every hot dog here and it's obvious the amount of thought to balance every flavor. Everything here is delicious, I would even reccomend getting the whole menu.
Lots of positive things to say about this place! Where do I start...
- Creative menu with unique hot dog toppings
- Good drink options as well
- High quality ingredients, such as the cheesesteak bread which is flown in
- Excellent take-out packaging
- Tables and chairs on-site if you'd rather eat there
- Very friendly owner & staff
- On top of all that, you can get a decent meal for $10-15, which is very affordable by Custer standards.
