Every July we take a trip to Townsend, Tennessee and as always, The Dancing Bear Appalachian Bistro NEVER disappoints. The food is incredibly fresh and the dishes are classic, unique but also hearty. This trip we made sure to eat there 3 of our 4 nights and even brought our children along. They have an awesome fireside smore set up which was a huge hit among the kids and adults. Can’t wait to go back next year!

Excellent food and top service. The eggplant Oscar was subtlety balanced. Cheese starter and dessert (different cheeses) looked very tempting, but our just turned 2 yr and old wanted to be outside. Waiters went out if their way to accommodate our usually easy toddler. Would have loved to come back for their cocktails and nearly 200 American, Irish and Scottish whisk(e)ys and their other entrees. Definitely best place in Townsend and miles around.

From the amuse bouche to the wonderful desserts, the meal was delicious and beautifully presented. Carefully sourced ingredients, many from the property, make each dish served at it's seasonal peak of flavor. Brad took great care of us and carefully explained Chef Shelley Cooper's vision for the dishes he served to us. Great food, great service, and a beautiful setting nestled in the woods. Even better when you stay at one of the cabins in the property and take a quiet stroll back to your cabin through the hemlocks.

Amazing dinner. Top notch service. Cocktails and wine were very good. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Most try peach cobbler. Fresh veggies grown from garden on site.

Love love love this place. Beautiful setting. Great restaurant. Excellent service. We stayed the weekend in one of the cabins. Little pricey but very nice. Clean. Exactly as described.
