Burnwood '68

Awesome food! Burnt ends are not on the menu, but I asked for them and they gave me some of the most smokey, delicious burnt ends I ever had. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. The brisket with burnt ends was smokey heaven! Ribs had a nice tug with a delicious thin glaze. The sausage was fantastic as well.

We decided to try the two meat plate and the three sliders. The sliders are made with Hawaiian bread (lightly toasted and buttered) and you can pick any three meats. I chose brisket, chicken, and chopped BBQ. Absolutely delicious. I am not a fan of sweet/spicy pickles-- I prefer a stout dill... So that was disappointing. I chose the upgrade for German potatoes- highly recommend and will get again.

The two meat plate we selected brisket and ribs with green beans and mac and cheese. The ribs were absolutely delicious having a smoky flavor and a sweet glaze. Not too sweet and not dry at all. the brisket was not as fresh as we would want it to be but it was still delicious. You definitely have to put the barbecue sauce that they offer on it. I would still highly recommend getting it.

I cannot wait to come back and try the baked potato or the brisket tacos!

Burnwood '68 is the newest BBQ addition to downtown San Antonio. Burnwood is located in the spot where King's HWY BBQ used to be. Plenty of seating inside and outside. Their brisket grilled cheese was delicious and hit the spot. I also tried out their sliced brisket and sausage sandwich. Compliment their brisket sandwich with a small drizzle of their spicy bbq sauce and believe me it shines. Finally, I had their Burnwood '68 platter. The platter came with four types of meat of your choice and a few sides.
Overall, I would come back and try out their baked potato!!

The place has great potential. We arrived for dinner around 5:30ish and they close at 8,and found that they were out of several side choices and had a limited amount of meats left. The reason we were given was that since they had been on the news business had really picked up. Good for them. I'm sure they will learn to iron things out. Worth trying out.
