Have stage 4 cancer, which messes with taste buds, also have mouth sores, which makes spicy food painful.
Tried the salsa first - fantastic! Too bad sores limited me to one sample. Same for the guisada - yum!
Then the ultimate test of San Antonio-style Tex-Mex, the tortillas, which should be like homemade. Passed with flying colors! I had cheese enchiladas (of course) for my first meal there. The fine ground beef in the enchilada sauce made it even better! The guacamole must've come right out of the shell. Nothing is fresher than that.
I'd rate it average for an OUTSTANDING Tex-Mex restaurant. if you crave good Tex-Mex, and an El Guacamole (#3 is the one near me - brand new) is nearby, there's no reason to look elsewhere.
Overall, I rate it 5 stars because the food is great, the service was excellent and the price was reasonable; the qualities that matter most to me.
The chips and salsa were really good. The salsa had great flavor. The tortillas were fluffy and fresh. The chicken mole was really tasty as well. The whole meal was a great value.
Went with whole family to eat for the first time at El guacamole and we all loved it, food, service and pricing was so great. We will forsure be back. We had shrimp fajitas, enchiladas w/puffy taco, chicken tortilla soup, chicken gorditas and carne guisada, order of guacamole was crazy big. Very good food.
Food was bland but service was great. Tried the guacamole appetizer and it was bland. I felt like the food was missing something or just mor guacamole options. Wouldn't go back
Love this new location. Tried checking in on Facebook but the only location that popped up was for the New Braunfels location. Our first time eating here and their second day open. The atmosphere was very nice and nicely decorated. Our server was excellent and very attentive, my tea never ran dry. My wife had the Migas plate and the serving was large. She love the plate and loves the beans. My daughter had the beef fajitas and enjoyed the meal. The only thing that would improve the dish would be cutting the fajitas against the grain instead of along with the grain. Made for a harder bite and chew. I enjoyed my plate as well as the carnitas taco. I have to beat on the beans. Very delicious and full of flavor. We will go back for sure. Prices are reasonable and the Servers are extra nice. Well done Chefs!!
