Layne's in my opinion, is the College Station version of a better Canes. For $6.50 you can pick up a large chicken tender box, which includes DELICIOUS potato salad, a piece of toast, 4-5 chicken tenders, fries, and Layne's special sauce. The box is huge and will definitely provide leftovers. The chicken at Layne's is more crispy then at Canes which I particularly love, and you get potato salad opposed to coleslaw which I also prefer
Delicious food! Was there a a little over a year ago and loved their chicken.
Layne's has some of the best Chicken Fingers that I have tasted-- Moist and flavorful, with a great coating that almost tastes like a Zatarains or Old Bay Seasoning spice. Very good fries, Texas Toast. I am told that they have good Potato Salad. Friendly staff, Reasonable Prices, and Parking. Great to feed the kids. Good fingers or chicken sandwich is what they make, potato salad and or fries. Good portions, quick service. There sauce is a little pepperier than Cane's, but I liked it. Similar food.
Great food. Wonderful prices. Staff is extremely friendly and they're incredibly fast. I have seen lines wrap around the building that have taken a mere 20 minutes to get through.
The drive through is slightly confusing (look for the signs) and the interior is not my favorite seating, but it makes up for it with the decades of local hand drawn art on the receipt wall.
This is a local treasure.
Let's not lie to ourselves, Layne's makes one thing and it's neither healthy not gourmet. However, we do go there for the fried chicken basket for those two reasons, in addition to the fact that it's cost effective and the sauce is great. Service is fast, the fries are potato-y, the chicken is cooked fine, and decor is unique and entertaining. My only gripe is that the plastic fork I'm given for my potato salad is always greasy, without fail. It's like they go to extra effort to rub it in the chicken or it's my punishment for not exchanging it for extra sauce or something. Don't forget to napkin that baby off before digging into your potato salad.
