If I could give this diner more stars, I would. Janet was our server and she was sweet, attentive, and just all around amazing. On top of that, the food was SO good we had nothing left on our plates. One of the guys in my group even got more food to go! Highly highly recommend. Hidden gem. We will definitely be back!
A decent side-of-the-road diner for a quick meal stop. We arrived around 8 pm (they close at 9) and, other than a couple of other diners that finished up shortly after we arrived, we were there by ourselves.
Based on the waitress' recommendation, I ordered the chicken fried steak. The flavor was decent, but the breading fell off very easily; I'd instead recommend the fingers version of the same thing, so you could dip them in the gravy and eat them that way. My husband got the Memphis Plain Steak and said it was fine, but nothing spectacular. The fries were just okay.
Despite having very few customers, service was slow. From acknowledging us, to taking our order, to bringing our food and then the check (we weren't checked on during our meal, other than someone yelling if everything was okay from across the room). We weren't in a hurry, but the pace of service would have been annoying if we had been.
Our waitress was friendly but was focused more on the closing routines and cleaning than us. The smell of the mop cleaner was overpowering making our last few minutes less than pleasant.
TRUCK PARKING! so glad i could actually stop and enjoy a meal. Food was great! Chicken fried steak, cheeseburger, fish tacos! Sweet tea was yum. The desserts were amazing banana pudding and cherry cheesecake! Im so glad we found this hidden gem. BIG THANK YOU FOR TRUCK PARKING
Parking for big trucks! ++
Hubby had steak special. Nothing special. Cube steak and tough. Fries need to be double fried for crispness.
They did substitute fried okra for salad, which was excellent and plenty for us to share.
I had the fried catfish , which was also good. Came with salad and fries and 2 hush puppies. Hush puppies were perfect! Salad came from a bag and had to ask for dressing. Never seen a dinner salad served on plate with entree. Should serve in separate bowl. We ordered unsweetened tea and was brought sweet tea which was swapped out but no refills offered.
Suggest a better steak! This is cattle country after all. Create a signature dinner salad and serve separate. And fry those fries! Keep the okra, fried fish and hush puppies! Kudos there!
