I was at Baybrook Mall yesterday and stopped at Gelu Italian Ice, a new Clear Lake Chamber member. I remembered Italian Ice from when I was kid at the little league baseball games..What a treat. Not only are there multiple flavors to choose from, including my 2 new favorites, Mango and Pina Colada, but they also have an alcohol license so you can put in a little "punch" and make it a smoothie. How cool. Anyway, I had the 2 flavors above and they were fresh and delicious. Not icy but super smooth, almost like ice cream, except there is no dairy in it. Highly recommended for a refreshing afternoon pick me up. They also had a little rolling cart in the store that was wrapped with their logos. The owner, Ronn, said that they do special events such as birthday parties, company parties etc....Keep that in mind.

Tried their chorizo breakfast burrito today - sakes alive! Everything was handcrafted and fresh - even the tortilla. It was a fat burrito and unexpectedly filled me up. (I thought I was going to need two.) It came with an optional side of homemade green chili, which was super flavorful. And the price was amazing. It's the best deal in the valley right now. Oh, and the Gelu Brew dark roast was a nice accompaniment. Gelu has proven they can do Italian ice right - their latest venture into coffee, pastries and breakfast burritos shows they can succeed in their expansion of offerings.
