After eagerly anticipating its opening, I finally tried The Pit Room for the first time. I opted for a 2-meat plate featuring ribs, brisket, green beans, and corn. The ribs stole the show with their perfectly seasoned pepper coating. While the brisket boasted good flavor, some pieces were a tad too salty, though not as overwhelming as Coopers (Llano). The corn offered a unique and delicious twist, and the green beans had a delightful Pit Room flair. Despite the slight hiccup with the brisket, I would definitely return, especially since it's conveniently located next to Fishing Tackle Unlimited, which adds to the experience.
This new location for The Pit Room in Memorial is fantastic. It has all the best features of the Museum District location without the travel and parking hassles. Food is the same quality at both locations and patio seating in Memorial is very comfortable; benches, booths, high-tops, and bar. They are currently adding more features to the bar area to enhance it even more. No more driving thirty minutes hoping they’ll still have some brisket when you get there, this is is a great addition to the west side.
The Pork Ribs are great. The mac & cheese is good. The BBQ sauce is good. I have been there twice, the brisket and the beef ribs need more salt in the rub. The brisket I got was the flat and it tasted good, but was a little dry. The two meat plate was reasonably priced. The beef rib was high in price. Will I go again, yes. They are still getting set up.
Eat Local. Support Local. Love Local. Top Notch barbecue in a brand new spacious location.
Pit Room was already my favorite BBQ place before they moved to this area. They were just too far from me back then.
I was so happy to learn of their new location. There is plenty of parking which is nice!
The ambiance was great. So much space in there. Very clean.
What can I say about the BBQ… it was already my fave BBQ before coming so I loved it all. That speaks volumes because consistency is key, and there was no difference in taste from one location to another. I got the two meat plate with brisket and jalapeño cheese sausage with a side of mac n cheese (so creamy!!) and a side of green beans. They usually rotate between the green beans and okra for the veggie side and they are delicious. As I was about to pay, I noticed a container full of roasted garlic. Not sure if that was a mistake that it was out, but I immediately asked and they added to my order. They were so sweet, that I ate one garlic clove per bite with my brisket. I’m probably going to reek of garlic for days, but that was so good!!!
I went to their restrooms. Only one of the smaller stalls was available. I’m not gonna knock down points for this BUT they’re so small! The door almost brushes against the toilet so you need to step to the side of the toilet to close the door behind you - but the toilet paper holder is there. Not brushing your leg against the toilet bowl is impossible. I realize they cannot fix that anymore. A purse hook would be nice in each stall. I didn’t see one in the smaller restroom and had to put my purse on the floor.
Anyway! Overall it was great! Go!! 💁🏻♀️
