Oh my goodness, I've been dying to eat here, so I brought my husband for a special birthday dinner. it was as good as anticipated! The salmon is to die for & I could just sit & eat the Brussels sprouts until I exploded. Gorgeous architecture and wonderful ambiance.
Great getaway location. Only an hour and a quarter drive through some country roads from San Antonio. We went on a weekday during spring which made for a gorgeous drive. Absolutely beautiful dining room. We were only the second couple to arrive shortly after opening. No reservation for lunch but as the dining room is small and fills fast, having one would help with peace of mind. Lunch menu starters don't quite pair well with the main course offerings but are delicious none the less. Unfortunately our main course selections both had fries that were oversalted to the point of having to quit early. I'm sure this was a one off by the kitchen as the quality of the rest of the food was top notch. We also sampled the brownie dessert to finish off the experience but our salt receptors were already looking to pick a fight with the next molecule of sodium chloride they ran across so the flavor was lost to an over primed palate. We will definitely return for an evening experience as I'm sure sunset must be absolutely divine.
Can't say enough about this delightful restaurant.
The food was wonderful, everything from the too hot to eat honey cornbread biscuits, to the cocktails and main course.
The drive out for us was at dusk and it was beautiful and relaxing.
A fantastic all around experience and every bit worth the drive.
Where do I start? This place creates dishes that dreams are made of. Perfect balance of seasonings and presentation, subtle delivery. Understated, natural and unpretentious staff. Tillie's offers an elegant dining experience with staff that feel like old friends. And where else can you fine in a Vietnamese town hall? All the boxes checked off here. Off the beaten path, scenic drive optional. The best meal we've had in a very long time. We're going back!
