“Always the best Mexican food in Texas. I've been eating at Taco Rey my entire life which started back when they were located on Bluebonnet in Port Arthur. I've traveled all over the US and have yet to find better Mexican food anywhere. The restaurant is fixed within an old style wood frame house on piers complete with rustic hardwood floors, wooden multi-pane windows and early 20th century tin ceiling panels. There's never a shortage of discussion between patrons with the multitude of eclectic conversation pieces surrounding the interior of the restaurant including old celebrity photos, movie posters, news articles, antique decorations and retro furniture. The ambience is usually festive, the staff pleasant, the margaritas succulent and prices reasonable.”

“Outstanding!! We ordered a Captains Platter and jambalaya, which all if it was very tasty and filling! This was my first taste of jambalaya and I am hooked! I could eat that every day!! The waitress brought us a basket of little garlic flavored crunchy bread slices, almost like a flat crouton. I wish I could have tasted everything on the menu!! The platter had plenty of seafood to share and we tasted crab three ways, scallops, fish, shrimp. It was all delicious. My only regret I that I live ???? 900 miles away! With no ocean in sight. Go. “The place was busy and the sandwich took about 5 minutes or so. The cashier was extremely friendly and I overheard her helping a boy order and she was very patient and helpful. The sandwich was good. A little expensive at 10 dollars for a sandwich drink and chips, but their checks on the wall to the community were nice to see and made rounding up worth it. The restaurant was a little smokey. It didn’t smell but you could see it in the air, maybe need more ventilation. Good place and a good bite to eat.”
