“My husband and I were married at the Welfare Cafe on March 16, 2019, and we have to say that this was the most incredible wedding we could have ever hoped for! Gaby, the owner, was such a pleasure to work with throughout the entire process. Especially on the day of the wedding, she and her entire staff were so, so accommodating. From helping us plan for possible inclement weather at the last minute to showing our guests a wonderful time throughout the entire reception, we could not have asked for a better outcome. We served the duck breast lollipops and poblano goat au gratin to our guests for cocktail hour, and the Chicken Fredericksburg for dinner. It was a delicious, five star spread and we’re all still trying to get over the fact that we were only able to eat it once! Also, the venue itself is gorgeous, as it’s situated in the Texas hill country and surrounded by historical and natural landmarks alike. (We really didn’t need many decorations because of how awesome the natural backdrop is!) Clearly we love this place and the people who run it, so don’t pass up this beautiful, hidden gem of a venue!”

“First let me say I am a burger and fries guy. My wife asked if I would like to join her and a friend for lunch, I agreed. Checked the menu before leaving and wasn’t sure how lunch would turn out. I was impressed with my order. I was schooled, this was a great meal. I had a salad and soup. The croutons in the salad were exceptional, I’m also a crouton guy. The soup was very hearty and filling, it was seasoned well which gave it great flavor. I forgot what my mom told me long ago, try it first before judging. I went in knowing I would not be filled or satisfied and came out with a new appreciation for a different menu. I will go back based on my visit. Understand this is a unique menu, go in with an open mind, you may be surprised.”

“Great food! Hit in the middle of lunch, very busy and shorthanded & a new employee. This Subway is connected to a Circle K. The store and restaurant were very clean and well organized. The food was hot and fresh and was quite delicious. There are lots of options for both sandwich and chips and drinks.”

“The owner waited on us and shared that his wife did the cooking. Mom greets you and takes the money. Excellent food all around. Hubby had the lemon chicken, I had the Moo Goo Pai Pan. Wonderful hot and sour soup, and egg rolls. The buffet looked great too. Try the Tiger beer! All very reasonable”

“Bumdoodlers is an extremely CASUAL place! The place is usually packed so that tells you a lot! They bake their own bread, buns, pies & cheesecakes. There are many delicious deli sandwiches to choose from, all that I've tried are delicious! They also have homemade soups, usually three choices with the choices rotating by day. But let me tell you what brought us to Bumdoodlers today! It's Pi day so hubby & I went to our traditional place - Bumdoodlers - for some delicious pie. Last year we each had two pieces (one for lunch, a second for dessert) but this year I'm on a diet so we had a bowl of broccoli cheese soup for lunch and then a piece of pie for dessert! My favorite is the the coconut meringue, it is so delicious! Hubby's favorite is pecan! By the way, we had two bowls of soup and two pieces of pie. I paid with a $20 and got $12+ change back! Is that amazing or what? But like I said upfront, don't expect fancy!”

“I love Mague’s and their tacos are the best I’ve ever had. They are usually very quick and for those of you who don’t like the decor, that’s not why you should be going to eat anywhere. Their sweet tea is also delicious.”

“My husband and I made reservations on a Froday night for our anniversary. We ran late and the hostesses were flexible with adjusting our reservation. When we arrived we were quickly seated; however, we were walked through the main dining area into what seemed to be a private party room and there were two large parties already seated there. It was very loud and claustrophobic. My husband asked to have us re-seated outside as there was live music... It was a great choice. The staff were all very accommodating and kind with the switch. The atmosphere was a bit more relaxed on the patio and the band was EXCELLENT. Everything we ordered was really delicious and the service throughout the night was great... very attentive waiter. We spent a leisurely 2.5 hr dinner there and weren't rushed through a moment of it. We will definitely return at the next opportunity!”

“The carnitas street tacos are delicious. Extremely friendly and informative customer service. Affordable prices....my five taco plate was $7! Definitely going back to try some of their other offerings. I love that they offer so many fresh fruit options and even make them into drinks. So much better than another boring, fattening side of fries.”

“My favorite breakfast place in Boerne. Good homestyle breakfast. Everything is delicious, really, you can't go wrong. It is in one of the older buildings on Main and has old pictures of Boerne on the wall. It is like you stepped back in time. If possible, sit in one of the window seats and people-watch while you drink great coffee.”

“Great service. Parking might be an issue, but nit for us. Were seated immediately and given a choice of tables. Yellow roses on the table. Food was priced reasonably for the quality. Salad was cut fresh. The quail was delicious and well cooked. The Axis burger was simple and so delicious. Even the fries and the ice tea were amazing. The dining area was smallish so there might be a wait. About half the seating is outside. The ladies bathroom is behind the restaurant (by the smoker) and is handicap accessible.”

“The warm sandwiches are my favorite, you can't go wrong. The bakery has some delicious goods to and if you order a croissant they serve it warm. The staff is helpful and takes the time to go through the menu with you and make any modifications if needed.”

“Friendly staff, nice outdoor area. I had the French dip sandwich and fries. It was a lot of food. The sandwich was decent, but not my favorite. I think it was because the bread was a little overwhelming for the meat and maybe a little dry. My husband had the goat burger which was recommended and he thought it was very good. The beer was solid and enjoyed that as well. We would go back if we were in the area.”
