“Hallettsville has needed a barbecue place like this for a long time: great barbecue open on weekdays (they’re also open on weekends)! They just opened Aug. 3. Female pit master Tanya served up ribs that were succulent, flavorful and smoky - just what a Texan looks for. She also caters. They have other things available that are unique to the area, such as boudin, which is a regular on the menu. Friday, they also had a special item: stuffed turkey legs (how do you do that?) Looking forward to trying the brisket, sausage, stuffed baked potato, etc. Eat in or take out. There’s a drive- through. City Park isn’t far, so you can take it there if the dining room is too crowded.”

“Good food for the price in Hallettsville. The carne guisada is different from anywhere else I've had it but it was really good kind of like they used to fajita meat to make carne guisada. Edit: I've been eating here for a couple of years now and It is one of my favourites. I love their chicken fried steak with french fries and there Mexican chicken fried steak with rice and beans and chili con carne on it. Tamales are really good and the prices are some of the best in town and all through the pandemic they were there for us for pickup orders, while others were hit and miss. Thanks y'all I really appreciate it.”

Oh boy, such a nice surprise. We thoroughly enjoyed the ice cream, the rolled up ice cream that kids had different flavors and all were locally made and they were really good. I would highly recommend everyone to give it a shot.”

“I'm from Austin and my dad lives on the coast; Moulton is almost exactly halfway between us, so we like to meet up here and hang out since we don't get to see each other often. It blows my mind that a town whose biggest retailer is a Dollar General has better food than a place like Austin. My dad and I usually get the seafood platter and/or catfish dinner. Go figure - why would you want fried oysters from some town in the middle of nowhere. I can guarantee that this seafood is straight from the Gulf; I could not be more impressed with how fresh it was. Reasonably-priced, any and everything you can think of on the menu from burgers to steaks, and the staff are incredibly friendly and could not be more inviting into their business (seriously; the customer service is outstanding). I may be making too big of a deal out of it, but it's just such a stark contrast from what I'm used to in the Capital. Thank you, Brian's Daily Treat! We will be back!”
