First time to try this place & it’s awesome!! Friendly staff & great food. They have half sizes for those of us that can’t eat the huge sizes most places have. Food was on time & hot. It’s part of the TA truck stop here in Amarillo Tx so it’s great for us trucks that want something other then fast food. Will definitely be back.
The atmosphere here is definitely different from the truck stop it's located in. Food portions are generous. You won't leave hungry. My waitress Kiersten was great, had a great attitude, and was great at the conversation/banter us truckers have. A mix of flirty and smart assy... In a respectful way. Food was served quickly and aside from an issue with a pancake, which was resolved quickly. I would say this was a very enjoyable meal.
In a world of fast food, this place does great food, fast. You won't be disappointed.
Nice atmosphere, felt clean. Pancakes were very good, corn beef hash was good. Eggs Benedict were not so good, the sauce was thick and congealed and the muffin soggy and cold. Overall it's a way better experience than IHOP or waffle house.
I've been a fan of Black Bear since my 1st visit several decades ago. I'm really happy to see the nationwide expansion, especially in truck stops. Aubrey was my server for the 2nd time in a week as I stop here often.
As always, it was a wonderful experience. I did notice 1 thing. Though still an acceptable amount of food, it looked quite the opposite. The plates are truly platters . In the past, they overflowed with food. But everyone is scaling back due to multiple reasons, and you can't blame them. Prices are still comparable to the amount of food and service, so this isn't a complaint. It's a marketing observation. I had the Saturday night prime rib last night. It was excellent
Great breakfast. The large, plump sausage links are the best that I’ve eaten in any restaurant! The pancakes are made with sweet cream and are huge and fluffy. I covered them in butter and ate them without syrup…that’s how sweet they are. The hash browns covered the plate. They were browned on top but soft-cooked underneath. My preference is crispy both sides but they were delicious. The meatloaf was good but not spectacular. There is a cooler in front filled with great looking desserts. It is inside the truck stop with the store attached. Great place.
