Best BBQ in South Austin. I love the breakfast tacos. Unfortunately there are many mornings I don’t get in line early enough to
Order breakfast. Good thing I love the sandwich. Great Austin atmosphere
We got to the permanent food truck at around noon and there was already a line, but we only waited a half hour. It was very worth it! We had one chopped brisket sandwich and one sliced brisket sandwich. We loved both, but I would highly recommend the sliced brisket - it was very tender and sliced very thick (almost in chunks) unlike the brisket I'm used to which is usually sliced thin and has a tendency to dry out. This was moist and tender with sauce on the table, so you can add it as you like or not. We also had an 8oz side of the smoked corn. It was very good, but honestly (unlike the other items which I thought were appropriately priced) the corn was overpriced for what you got. They had a smaller size, but it was condiment cup sized and we didn't think that would be enough for two. The seating area was much nicer than most food trucks I've seen. There was a covered area or picnic tables. If we visit Austin again I WILL BE BACK! It was fantastic!
All in all my favorite BBQ in Austin (it totally counts) when you factor in cost vs. flavor vs. wait times. The brisket tacos are a must have and their rotating specials are always delicious and worth trying once you've been around several times. Friendly workers and lots of parking available if you go at busy hours.
We had Valentina's cater a rehearsal dinner for us and they did an amazing job. Annette was easy to work with and made sure we were taken care of. Their team showed up on time to set everything up for us and the food was amazing. We had several guests from out of state and they could not stop raving about the "great Texas BBQ"
Brisket was really good. Brisket taco was also really good. Wouldn't mind trying their other menu options. Was bummed that I waited in line so long to order (especially at 3-ish pm on a Saturday). Wishing there was more than just one window to order from. Also was a little set back that they didn't have any standard BBQ plates but that was my fault for not checking out the menu beforehand. No lost star for that. Just for the waiting time at a place that clearly had enough space to add a second order window. Also, the picnic tables were very low to the ground (thought I was eating in a middle school cafeteria) so they were very difficult to get in and out of for this 6'2 human. While the food was really good I will likely try multiple other BBQ joints in and around Austin before willingly going back here unless I see a short line and I'm ordering take-out.
