This place has awesome freshhhhh home made everything food!!!!!! I am not easily satisfied so trust I wouldn’t give 5 stars if it didn’t deserve it. I was tremendously pleased.
Oh let me mention my server, Jen thank you for everything you were the cherry on top of an amazing lunch.
Great food with a varied menu. I had tacos, my dad had an oriental salad, my mom had pulled pork sandwich, our friends had the club sandwich (massive) and fried shrimp with broccoli. Their online menu didn't list everything, so we were not excited to go, so surprised with the selection when we arrived. Great outdoor seating with austin-y vibe. Only 4 stars because our iced tea was wonky - it wasn't even brown. If that was intentional, then that's weird. If spending was wrong with the tea, then why serve it? It tasted like water mostly. No one in our group complained, bit we probably should have!
We like the green chili items on the menu. Casual. Indoor and outdoor seating. Has the "old Austin" feel. Only complaint is that on unplugged nights it's hard to hear the music because people talk so loud. Most of the crowd seems to be there for the $4 Ziegenbach rather than to enjoy the music. Still love the funkiness of this place!
Our server was exceptionally charming and attentive. The food was great. Their steak salad is my favorite in town! And the peanut butter ice cream cake was killer!
My only complaint was that the hostess and host were unaccommodating as far as letting us sit in the covered outside seating. It was a surprisingly windy early spring day. My young daughter was very cold. There were no tables available inside and though there were several open tables in the covered outside section that was heated, we were told they were only for drinks and appetizers. We sat at an unheated, uncovered outdoor table, because we were told there were no more portable heaters available even though one table had 2 heaters. We then watched as one of those heaters was set aside, but were still told we couldn't use it because the wind made it a fire hazard. However all the other heaters remained in position and seemingly in use. After braving the cold wind for half an hour, we were told a table inside was then available. However in the 3 minutes it took us to walk to the building, they sat another group at that table. Only very reluctantly did the hostess allow us to finally sit at the same covered outside table we had originally asked for, which had remained empty that entire time. Basically we suffered unnecessarily for half an hour.
This is one of my favorite restaurants but they are slipping a bit with the food. It’s still good but last couple of times were not great. I will keep going back. It’s warm and comfortable. During the summer the outside seating is fantastic. I’m hoping to be able upgrade this rating soon
