The food was delicious, but that kind of seems like a given, considering whose restaurant it is. I was most impressed with the staff; every person we interacted with was friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and fun. It seemed like everyone worked together like a well-oiled machine, and it appeared that they were genuinely enjoying themselves. A+ service all around. The overall ambiance, from the decor and lighting, to the seating and table set-up, even down to the vessels and utensils, all feel very thoughtful--carefully curated to set the mood and enhance the experience. And yes, the food really was delicious. It's pricey, but it's fresh, high-quality ingredients. It was especially impressive that they were able to accommodate a vegetarian, without it feeling like it was just an afterthought. We were very pleased all around.
This place was great. Warming, fun, seasonal food. Inventive cocktails. The smoky miso broth I had was very good as were the curry noodles. Playful and friendly service and food cart top it all off. In a really inconspicuous area but really a hidden gem. Would recommend.
I think dipdipdip qualifies as one of the finest restaurants Austin has to offer. In true Tatsu-ya fashion, everything is well thought out to provide guests a top quality experience. They have an attention to detail that sets them apart. Not only was the food exceptional, the attentive service was as well.
Pricey, but the meat is actually of comparable quality to what you find in Japan. I was so pleasantly surprised! The sauces and broth are great. The decor and the way the table is set is so innovative. My new favorite restaurant in Austin.
This place exceeded my expectations. The food was exquisite. The broth was divine, the dipping sauces literally made my eyes roll back in my head and the wonderful palate cleansing granita was the perfect end to the meal. Make your reservations now!
