Used their pickup service via their website just now, picking up dinner for the household on the way home, and I really appreciated how convenient it was! The guy who served us walked out as soon as we pulled up and asked if it was my order by name, which was great! He let us know all the extras we had in our bag, and as always, Rudy's hooks it up with the bread. Definitely my go to emergency BBQ now!
Great food and great service! It was our first time visiting and we received samples of the most popular meats and side item. The food was cooked perfectly and the BBQ sauce is pretty delicious. Nice, casual atmosphere with great staff. Definitely check this place out.
Really enjoyed eating at Rudy's "Country Store". When we cams in they asked if we had eaten there before. When we said no, the told us how things worked, and even gave us a little sample of the BBQ. Really liked how you could order different things, and build your dinner by the pound (or ounce). the food was great, and the place was reminiscent of the rural Texas side of the road BBQ places. Great food, great ambiance, and great service . . . what more could you ask for?
The lack of barbecue smoke in the air suggests that the meat is prepared off-site somewhere, but it is nevertheless hot & tasty. The brisket melts in my mouth, and the down-home sausage follows the traditional recipes brought to Texas from the Old Countries of Central Europe nearly two centuries ago. Nobody hankering for the flavors and meaty textures that made Central Texas famous will be disappointed. Rudy's is generous with accoutrements like its sauce, sliced onions, and dill pickle wafers. And this is the one occasion where I actually like the old school airy white bread — as a handle to wrap around meat, sauce, & fixings — and they give me as much as I want of this too. Still, I'm suspicious of barbecue joints in buildings that aren't rickety and lined with an ancient patina of grease and smoke, but if I can forgo that part of the tradition, I can eat well & carnivorously for a moderate price.
Good food, decent staff. Well kept, tidy and clean lunch area.
Hot food, tasty, what you would you expect from every Rudy's BBQ.
The only two downsides to my visit was that the bottle on my table of the barbecue sauce was clogged. The tables were super close to each other which made it a little awkward for us larger gals to get through the aisles! I would just suggest that maybe there was one table less out on the floor to make a little extra room and that the tops of the barbecue dispensers be cleaned out every once in awhile or at least more frequently.
Other than that,... the place was popping and the line was moving, that's always what you want to see during the lunch rush!
