(July 3, 2020, 2:09 pm)Overall great BBQ! I’ve tried the brisket and turkey both of which are excellent! I’ve been to quite a few BBQ places and I have to say this is in the top. It’s been busy with grand opening, but the staff seems to still be very friendly and helpful! Pro tip to avoid the wait use the True Texas BBQ app! I always order ahead and select a dinner time and pick it up on my way home! 5 out of 5 would recommended!

They also sell drinks along with BBQ(attached pic) and also the reusable cups.Mask is mandatory within the restaurant and the dine-in chairs were mostly removed for the sake of social distancing. Have a try while visiting the HEB south congress

True Texas BBQ delivers on all fronts. It's tasty, it's tender, and it's definitely not pretentious. BBQ is a bit of a religion in Austin, but there's certainly a place in the pulpit for HEB's take.
The menu is pretty standard fare, with Brisket, Chicken, Pork, Turkey, and Ribs. All are made well, but not "world class". Terry Black's, Franklin's, and Valentina's won't lose any sleep over the competition. However, Bill Miller's and Rudy's should be on guard.
The beer selection is good, with both national brand bottles and local craft draft choices. True Texas BBQ won't be your next watering hole, but it is a welcome oasis within HEB.
All in all, you won't be disappointed if you come with realistic expectations, and should enjoy a solid meal at a reasonable price.

Got full off the Large chopped brisket sandwich, cobbler was good (id say great but a review that positive screams fake), the wife gave the banana pudding 4 out of 5 stars, but the fatty brisket... In a class of its own. Well worth the wait. Been waiting months for this

(June 13, 2020, 9:11 am)In terms of fast food bbq, it's the best hands down! Way better than Bill Miller's. It's on par with Green Mesquite which is nearby. The prices do reflect it however. Overall, I'm happy to have this as another food option close by.
