UPDATE:
Decided to give them another chance with a simpler order and everything came out fine. It was in the locker within one minute of the estimated time. Not sure if my previous experience was a different team or if things just improved, but I'll go back. Just don't order anything toasted, especially the brioche bun!
--------
Previous review: We were so excited to try the digital kitchen. Many missing items, and I ordered a toasted bun that came charred, blackened, and soaking wet. They said that's how the machine does it. The employee was kind and remade the order, however that too was incorrect. Asked for grilled onions on both burgers, but they were raw, greasy, and way too many for the sandwiches. My car smells horrid
First off, this is not your normal whataburger. It’s to-go only and best practice is to use the app to order ahead of time. If you’re looking to have a human you speak with place your order this is not the place. It’s all on you to put in what you want , which is a fairly simple task.
Frankly, I enjoy the new concept and appreciate no sitting in some exhaustive line of cars while people place orders.
I’ll gladly take this new style over the old way of doing things. Having been here multiple times the food has been consistently good.
This is what's unique about this digital kitchen:
1. You cannot eat inside the restaurant
2. You only have the option to order at the digital kiosk or the app
3. You can't pay with cash
4. You get 0 human interaction
Are any of these things worth it? Not really.
The digital kiosk doesn't function as well as the app or ordering with a human being. The screen froze when it attempted to process payment, and there was no one there to help me. After we successfully got our orders, we opened up our bags and realized nobody packed napkins - again, no human interaction or restaurant access to help me solve this issue. Overall, this experience was definitively less convenient than a standard Whataburger.
