“We were going to this location when it was previously two other places so when we saw that a ramen and sushi place was opening up here we decided to check it out! We were not disappointed! We tried out the bento boxes just to try it out and everything was delicious! The options are great for the boxes as well! Pricing isnt so bad either which is a plus. We came in with a table of 15 and the owner came over and gave us free appetizers to try it. It was called onion pie, it was really good with the Cajun sauce. “It was an early Thursday morning in Houston, Texas, and I was craving a kolache. I knew exactly where to go: Shipley Do-nut at Highway 6 North. Shipley Do-nut is a Houston institution, and it's known for its delicious kolaches. They have a wide variety of flavors to choose from, but my favorites are the Kolache-Sausage and Cheese and the Kolache-Sausage, Cheese, and Jalapeños. I arrived at Shipley Do-nut around 7:30am, and the place was already buzzing. There was a line of people waiting to order, but it moved quickly. I placed my order for a Kolache-Sausage and Cheese and a Kolache-Sausage, Cheese, and Jalapeños. The kolaches were freshly made and piping hot out of the oven. They were soft and fluffy on the inside, and the fillings were generous and flavorful. The sausage was juicy and flavorful, and the cheese was melted and gooey. The jalapeños in the Kolache-Sausage, Cheese, and Jalapeños added a nice kick of heat. I took a bite of each kolache and was immediately transported to heaven. The flavors were so delicious and comforting. The kolaches were the perfect way to start my day, and they gave me the energy I needed to power through the morning. I highly recommend Shipley Do-nut for anyone looking for a delicious and timely breakfast. The kolaches are delicious and affordable, and the service is always friendly and efficient. “When I walked in I thought the place was empty. I shouted to the back to see if anyone was there and a man walked out with a stack of containers and began prepping them for delivery. I asked if he had Apple Pay and he had no idea what that was (they do.) I wasn’t sure I was going to like this place because the vibes were a little off at first, but I placed my order and the man shuffled back to prepare it. When he brought it out he made sure to throw in napkins and utensils even though I was content to just grab it and go. When I got back to work I was a little let down that I didn’t get pita slices like in the picture of the rice plates. Then I took a bite… and another, and another. Oh my god it was delicious! The meat was spiced well and very tasty. I loved the sauce and the salad was good as well. The real star of the show was the rice, though! I had planned on skipping the rice beforehand, because I’m picky about my rice and it was the meat I craved, but I was blown away. Perfect texture, not too soft, a little sticky but not at all mushy, and perfectly packed with flavor. I made my coworkers try it and I know at least one planned on stopping in to grab her dinner there. 10/10 food, def recommend.”
