We were passing through and ended up in town on a busy Friday night. The place was packed and hopping. We were seated back by the kitchen. A little loud at times with the guys barking at each other on the status of orders. Quite impressive though. They were busting it hard to keep things going.
It's a typical brewpub feel. A bit industrial, very open and plenty of brewpub adornments on the walls.
We had great service considering the circumstances and considering the way the rest of the servers seemed to be working, everyone else did as well.
I had a couple Head Doctors. A bit more hop than I like, but not too much to keep me from drinking multiple. The pizza was ok. The crust seemed a little underdone, but that may have been due to volume of patrons. The sauce is sweet, which did catch us off guard.
All in all it's a nice brewpub in a lovely NE town.
Got the chance to explore Rutland a bit lately. Checked out the Farmer's Market and then walked over to the Hop'n Moose to escape the heat. Nicely decorated brewpub. We tried the Coffee Porter and the Swamp Donkey Oatmeal Stout - excellent! Then we ordered a couple wood oven pizzas which were creative and delicious. On featured apple slices and maple syrup. Two pizzas for four people including a couple of ravenous college kids who had skipped breakfast and it was plenty. Oh yeah and we had a great app of fried brussel spouts with balsamic vinegar. Great place!
I was meeting a friend of mine in Rutland for lunch one day. We decided to stop in at Hop'n Moose and have a beer with our meal. They have decent house beer on the tap line which they brew on premise. Their food are pretty decent. They serve pizza, sandwiches and appetizers. Their friendly staff will greet and serve you with a smile. This brewpub does participate in the Vermont Brewers Association beer passport program. Be sure to get your passport stamped or pick one up already stamped on your visit.
Great brewery. Root beer is phenomenal. The best I've ever had. Food good to, personal pizza was great!
