Tavern on the James

Had a really great experience here after kayaking on the James River for the entire morning. Great staff and nice selection of quality foods. Well done!

Beautiful place to have a nice delicious meal. Chelsea was fun and helpful in choosing my lunch since I'd never been there before. I chose the Reuben sandwich. Yum! The beef was so tender and savory and it was chopped and piled on! Yum! Yum! My husband got the burger with onion rings. The onion rings were so good. I didn't taste his burger but he said it was good too. I really loved the decor and atmosphere. Very high ceilings and elaborate trim around the large windows. Lots of seating and perfect for large parties. A nice spacious banquet room on second floor which is available for events. Overall, a wonderful experience.

The shrimp, scallops and crab special was to die for. My husband got the ribs that were awesome also. Another got the london broil which was delicious. Service was great! Enjoyed our evening!

Friends of mine played music. We were greeted with a warm welcome. All the waitresses were friendly , helpful and very attentive. We met others higher up in management they too were friendly and helpful. The food we had was great and so was the service.

As a visitor, we were warmly welcomed. The atmosphere was great. Service was fun, quick and attentive. Food was good and price was on point. A great place to stop!
