“Look no further than Hooked Seafood and Raw Bar for your next oceanic craving. Upon entry, Hooked has a bright and clean atmosphere that feels refreshing and vibrant. I was greeted at the door immediately, and there was no wait for seating although the restaurant appeared full. At the table, the menu I was given included several expected choices in a seafood restaurant. However, there were quite a few standouts that seemed to have their own originality. I find the “Raw Bar”ability to order shellfish by the pound convenient, as you can opt for a larger portion than the entree. I was served bread until my meal arrived, and the food was prepared within a reasonably quick pace (about 13 or so minutes). Once it arrived, my lobster roll was packed with meat. The fish tacos had a mango salsa with lime that was to die for. The steamed shrimp by the pound were piping hot, flavorful, and served with the classic cocktail sauce, lemon, and melted butter. There was also a massive selection of alcohol on display, as well as an extensive cocktail menu and draft list. They even had a few “lottery” bottles for the hardcore enthusiasts. Falcon Smash is always my go to, and it paired wonderfully with seafood. At the end of my experience, I had been greeted by the owner and the general manager before leaving. Their need to ensure that I had a pleasant visit was a true sign that a local owned Hanover business is here to stay. So if you find yourself missing the beach but not wanting to make the drive, take a trip to Hooked Seafood and Raw Bar instead. You’ll be glad you did.”

“Went for brunch. The restaurant was nice and open with lots of seats. Staff were very friendly and helpful with recommendations. I went with the eggs benedict which was delicious. The grits were just the right thickness too. Someone at the table beside me ordered the chicken and waffles that looked amazing and I can’t wait to go back to try those.”

“Formerly Skrimp Shack. Now Bubba's Shrimp Shack. Shrimps are the same. Delicious. Sweet potato fries changed but they're very good. Waffle fries now. Small shrimp basket comes with a side and drink. Even got 2 hush puppies in the basket. They are very tasty. I loved it. Fast, friendly. Dined in. Food brought out to table hot. Choice of different sauces for shrimp and fish. Will return and try other menu items. Great experience. Highly recommend.”

“This place is delicious and refreshing. The best Thai in town, in my opinion. I went twice during my 6 day visit in the area. Everyone I dined with loved all their meals. We had multiple people in our party with gluten restriction, the server was knowledgeable and worked with the kitchen to provide us gluten free versions of their dishes. I hope this restaurant has a long and prosperous run in Mechanicsville.”

“Delicious BBQ, solidly presenting the traditional meats with a few real standouts. Great, quick service and good atmosphere. Moderate price but worth it. We were super excited to check out a new BBQ place here in Hanover so we were here opening night. My wife and I got the 2 and 3 meat combos and mixed and matched so we could try most of the offerings. The brisket was the stand out to me, it was smoky and well seasoned with a good texture. The pulled pork was also great, with a perfect leanness that was neither fatty nor dry, and some smoked in flavor that complements the sauces. The burnt ends had a bit more chew than I expected but was still tender and flavorful. The wings had a great smokiness but could benefit with a touch more dry rub flavor (esp. if you aren't dipping them in sauce or dressing). The quarter chicken didn't have as much flavor as I would have liked but worked well enough with a touch of sauce. Currently the BBQ sauce is given in containers when you order but I'm hopeful they'll go to bottles at tables eventually. The banana pudding was smooth and delicious and our friends really enjoyed the peach cobbler also. Service was pretty fast (especially for a brand new crew) and we were able to order and find seats with no problem. Servers and managers came through regularly to ask if they could help. The atmosphere is BBQ appropriate and pretty nice with cushy booths, a bar and quite a few TVs (seems like a great place to catch a game). We'll definitely be here regularly and I'm looking forward to seeing how this place grows over time!”

“I never ever leave reviews but the chicken and cheese sandwich I had was hands down the best sub I've ever had. The portions are huge and service was great. My son and I normally aren't crazy about steak fries but they were good too. Highly recommend 10/10”

“We gave this place a try early on a Saturday night; it was our first time. The food and service was good, but nothing stood out. We plan to visit again and give a more complete review. We went early because we'd heard it gets "rowdy" later in the evening. It was quiet for us at 6:30PM.”

“Loved loved loved the ice cream! Stopped by after a pool day with the family and sat outside to enjoy our sweet treat! The server was so NICE! It was my first time there, the kids were excited & I had questions. He was patient and super attentive. There are tables under a tree near the parking lot which allowed us to eat the ice cream before getting back in the car.”

“Stopped in for lunch for the first time today, my wife and I got the chicken sandwich with fries, I got mine tossed in mild garlic sauce. Very good. Server forgot our basket of onion rings but once we got them they were delicious. Will definitely be coming back. Loved reading the story on the menu as well. Very laid back atmosphere and great choice of music. Not many places you can get a hot sit down meal for $20 a person anymore including drinks and an appetizer.”

“Some dinner items should be available all-day. If you can do burgers, you can do Chopped steak. A soup of the day should be offered (not just clam Chowder) Megan (our waitress) was outstanding. The mgr on duty was abrupt when I asked a question. Thank goodness the cook was over there as he answered my question without attitude. The smashed burger were excellent. However, best eaten on a plate with a fork as the bun is crumbly and falls apart. The bird in the hand would have been tasty if the chicken wasn't dried out. Did a great job on remodeling. Menu needs some dinners available for late afternoon.”

“Came in 15 minutes until close (not on purpose, c'mon i'm not that guy)--service was impeccable, ownership presence, drink selection was nice, wings were fantastic--big and delicious--got habenero and a dry rub and I would recommend to anyone!! My lips are still tingling. Thank you to the kitchen manager, Zack, for keeping the grill lit and Sandy for the great service!!! Will be back!!! Visit #2 just as good as the first...sampler platter was great!!! Add some salt and good chili powder to that chili and it will be great!!”

“Absolutely recommend this little hole in the wall. The restaurant is in the Rise in Shine diner after 4pm. Orders are to-go only. The food was ready on time and everything tasted great! All meats were tender and flavorful. This is now our new go -to for Mexican food! For the price you can try anything and it's affordable but definitely get the nachos!!!”

“There is nothing better than having a local pizza place where they remember you and are always pleasant. Well I take that back. When the pizza is some of the best you have ever tasted then it can get better. Your Mom’s is the tastiest pizza hands down. I don’t know what they do but they have ruined me for other pizza places.”

“Hadn't had Five Guys in a minute. This 🍔 was delicious & super fast considering its made fresh. ✔ I would visit again. Only thing, is that 2 cheeseburgers, 2 drinks, & small fry was $40.00. So, if you have a large family, be prepared for that expense :). Still, was nice to enjoy some good food and sit down at the restaurant/eat it. I feel it was worth it. I had forgotten how good their burgers are. They remind me of Roy's ...a little. Yum.”

“Very busy, seems to be the largest portions for just under $20. Most other places don't give you nearly the amount of food for the same price. Staff were very friendly, took a while to get through line but everything came out hot and ready instead of sitting a long time from heat up or prep. Music in the waiting line wasn't bad either. Would recommend if you like fried food or looking for salad. Croutons were soft not crunchy though.”

“Great home cooking with super reasonable prices. Kind of a time capsule with a loyal following of older locals. Breakfast is always done properly. Ample portions and everything made to order. If you like "lunch counters" and retro vibes, this is a great option.”
