I had high hopes for this restaurant. I have gone there twice now and both times I have been disappointed. The first time I ordered a Pastrami Hot Dog. It was good but nothing outstanding. It was just a regular hot dog with just a little sauerkraut on it and some pastrami. It was served with the Faro Salad which was different but good. The cost was $12.00 which I thought was steep for what you got. The second time I went, I ordered a The Mickey D Hamburger. Again I was disappointed. It did not have the bacon on it as described on the menu and it was the size of a slider. They will not cook it to order, so if you like well-done hamburgers you are good to go. The cost on it was $13.00 and was served with French fries that were lukewarm. The menu is overpriced for the portions that you get. I do have to say that the waitstaff was very nice, that's why I gave it 3 stars, it was just average.
While stopping by in Irvington, I had the pleasure of eating lunch at The Local. They were kind, very eco-friendly and that was hands down the best chai tea I've had in years. Now, I'm looking for excuses to go to Irvington to have their delicious drinks and eats. Remember to bring your own mug if you are taking it to go!
Environmentally responsible, great food and coffee. Service is excellent and polite. The breakfast sandwich (croissant) is divine, I had the sausage, twice!
The Local is in the heart of Irvington, so you can walk to shops or sample other eateries, while pleasantly tasting their offerings inside or out. A small town establishment with a bit of an upscale feel, where residents and visitors can enjoy breakfast and lunch. Bagels, muffins, interesting sandwiches, and more, offer customers a wide array of foods to try. Very popular with Irvington residents where they can meet and greet neighbors while also satisfying their hunger. Surely a "must do" while enjoying the quaintness that is Irvington! Try it!
