Island Shrimp Co. Rocketts Landing

A great riverside restaurant/bar with an island theme, and just a few minutes drive from the heart of downtown Richmond.
The dining area is bright and welcoming. One entire wall is floor to ceiling windows, with some of them being glass, roll-up garage doors. All of this natural lighting, combined with the very Key West/island theming, makes for a very chill and relaxed place to take a break and have a bite to eat and a tiki cocktail.
We ordered the Island Nachos, Pain Killers and Bahama Mamas. The nachos were quite good, and the chips seem like they were house made. The drinks looked and tasted good, but they weren’t outstanding. More on this below.
Outside is a sizable deck overlooking the James River and a small marina. From here we enjoyed views of the water, boats, and the Richmond skyline.
The staff were friendly and offered some great suggestions with regard to food and drinks.
My only complaint is that my drink, the Painkiller, seemed light on the rum. To their credit, they did use Pussers rum, which is a must with a Painkiller, but they didn’t put much into the drink. It did not kill any pain. It was a buzz free cocktail that should have had me feeling no pain.
Overall this was a great experience and I definitely recommend a visit. The cocktail gets low marks, but this could have been the bartender for that shift. Some are better than others. It is unusual for me to find a restaurant/bar that knows how to make a proper cocktail.

This establishment went above and beyond all expectations. I chose this location for the igloos on the Outer deck, and the staff assisted me with my date night/proposal by specifically decorating our igloo with some of the stuff they had left over from Valentine’s Day, brought out two glasses of ginger ale with hibiscus flowers in them because we are alcohol free, and a special dessert all of which they did not charge us for. They also allowed me to have flowers delivered to the location the day before to help me out with the surprise I was planning for my fiancé the food was absolutely delicious from the appetizers, to the main course, to the dessert. The entire staff was very pleasant and helpful. We have made it our official yearly anniversary spot. Highly recommend!

We had brunch today and it’s absolutely INCREDIBLE! The omelette is next level delicious!!! Ali and Bri both helped us and were so amazing!!! We come for happy hour all the time which is also great! I would really love if they could get the Sierra Nevada Hazy IPA on draft, I would come to happy hour much more often if they got that on draft.

We decided to go with the igloo experience on the deck. Everyone had a good time except we all froze our butts off because there's no heat in those things. They do have an electric fireplace but it doesn't put out any heat. I would think for the amount of money that you pay extra just to sit out there for the "experience", they could put some heat out there. Phillip our server was excellent. He kept the drinks and food coming. The food was delicious, although the pork in our nachos was a little dry.

Came here for the first time and was not disappointed! Food was good. Ambience was nice that over looks James river that gave it a more calming vibe. joy was also out server and was very nice and attentive to us while we were there along with the rest of the staffs.
