We serendipitously ended up here when it started to rain one day back in June... and it ended being Hannyatou's first day open in months! It ended up just us and we had the best time with the owner Russell, savoring his recommendations, paired with his stories. Was having so much fun I forgot to take pics, but we ended up having maybe 1/3 of the menu and it was all DELICIOUS. I've visited Japan many times and Hannyatou definitely does it justice, with an artistic and creative spin. The sake we were recommended based on our preferences was on point. We ended up taking a bottle of sake to go! Found out later my friends rave about this place too. Best food, sake and service ever. Can't wait to head back next time I'm in Fremont!
Exciting and innovative, but super down-to-earth and just plain delicious. Sake selection is stellar. Highly recommend!
We stopped by while we waited for our food from Kamonegi (which was delicious!) and had such a delightful experience here at Hannyatou. Sat outside in a fabulous little patio out back, had lots of space between tables so we felt safe from corona, and really had a lovely time. The place has such a charming ambiance all around. Great service, a fantastic sake selection (we recommend "The One with 72 Clocks"),as well as a wonderful homemade elderberry shrub. Going back soon to try the Japanese IPA made from Citra hops. We felt very welcomed!
Absolutely stunning. Russell, the owner, is an master of hospitality, matched by his love and deep knowledge of sake. Visit, be amazed, learn, and enjoy yourself sublimely at Hannyatou.
I'm a huge fan of hot chicken and I've been here a few times now. I can say it's probably one of top 5 in all of LA, you'll really have to see for yourself. Honestly the only thing I'd add is an option for larger soft drink cups, the hotter levels really call for more than a small-medium size cup.
