If I had to choose the place serving the best fish & chips - this would be it. I've had many fish & chips, but this easily exceeded everything. Without being greasy and oily, the fish was awesome. The batter didn't spoil the taste of the fish, it was as simple as it was tasty. Service was great as well, the team seemed to have fun in the kitchen and even though our stay was short, we enjoyed it.

Great food, as a Brit in WA I have finally sound a good fish and chip spot. Fully recommend if your tired of imitation fish and chips. We got in before the rush for lunch and had our table poached even before we left. So expect to have a wait or share your table. Staff were friendly and helpful. Great experience. I’ll be back for sure.

I feel like I've eaten a lot of fish and chips in my days. Most are forgettable, some so heavy with grease you could warm yourself all Winter, but the offerings at Proper Fish are at a whole different level of excellence.

I was a little off put by the price, but a single order easily feeds two adults and it is the lightest, tastiest fish fry I've ever had. Apart from the fish and fries, the minted peas were a really nice touch to help cut the salt. I'm looking forward to trying the lobster roll next time!

This place is amazing. I got the octopus and chowder (both were AMAZING, wow) and my husband got the fish and chips (also very good). Everything was delicious. It’s a great spot for a quick meal but not somewhere to hang and drink. Very close to all the shops on Bainbridge. A perfect afternoon!

Ever since I moved to Seattle, my absolute number 1 favorite food was the amazing fish and chips served from the iconic green food truck called Nosh. But at the end of the summer in 2018, they disappeared - claiming to be working on a new menu and taking a break. After months and months of anxiously waiting for news, I discovered they had decided to permanently close the truck and instead open up a sit down restaurant on Bainbridge Island! While I was disappointed that I would no longer have the convenient access to their food truck here in Seattle, I was happy for the owners to have settled down!
I was finally able to try out the restaurant when I had family visiting in town and we decided to take the ferry out there!

    The Place:
Just a 30 minute ferry ride from downtown Seattle, and a literal turn away from the Bainbridge ferry station, Proper Fish is situated across a peaceful open little park where live music was playing and a small crowd was listening. There are a bunch of cute little boutiques and shops in the surrounding area. The restaurant has several tables (groups of 4 or less are ideal if you want to sit together!) as well as some bar counter seating. The menu is written up on the wall by the entrance with a really cool octopus mural surrounding it.

    The Food:
Bless the owners for maintaining the integrity of their food. I, of course, ordered their fish and chips and got to relive my moment of bliss of biting into the delicately salted fish and the refreshing mint flavor in their mushy peas. My parents ordered their lobster roll which was also super good!

While getting there is a bit of a journey, it's definitely worth it and I cant wait to go back!
