Frisko Freeze

One of these Staples here in Tacoma, a must do ,if Visiting. The best old school burger and fries and shakes. This hole in the wall has never changed its menu or the recipe of there burgers. Maybe a shake or sundae flavor......

Frisko Freeze is one of the local gems that has stood the test of time & change. With a simple menu yet full of flavor with each item, I can see why many people come here just for a burger & shake, fish & chips, or shrimp basket! I had a double cheeseburger with fries & butterscotch shake. Yeah, don't even think to compare In-N-Out to this place & this is coming from a California native. I love a good burger stand & Frisko Freeze gave downtown Tacoma a great gem for more years to come. Small & simple place yet big flavor. Don't cheat yourself, treat yourself!

The food is always great here, but customer service is run by a bunch of young kids with no structure to business. A very relaxed environment; but waiting for an order for nearly 45 minutes in the cold evening is too much for a burger and fries. I could see many people getting frustrated for the long wait.

If it wasn’t for the ability to take a nap in my vehicle in the warmth of my car, drive home, shower, and take a 30 minute dump on my toilet...I’d left along time ago and requested a refund...I even had time to watch a new episode of my favorite show in Netflix before receiving my order...

There is a reason this is a Tacoma landmark...
Simple tasty burgers cooked by Tacoma college students. The place has the ol' '50s diner atmosphere about it. If you don't mind the wait for fresh burgers, you're gonna love everything else about it. I recommend the bacon cheeseburger, onion rings, and a chocolate malt. Yum...

Came on a Friday evening, though there were a ton of folks there, the wait wasn't too bad - 15-20 minutes from ordering until we got our food. Double Cheeseburger was amazing! Cooked very well, very zesty relish. Every bite was a wow, I only wish I'd ordered two :) Had a corn dog as well, was terrific. Thick batter, very uniformly cooked.

One low point of the meal was the banana milkshake. Kind of a menu outlier, but any time we see one we've got to try it. This one in particular felt very artificially flavored, could really taste the Yellow Dye 5. Will definitely return and try a more traditional milkshake flavor next time.
