The Matador

We meet family there a few times a year. The drinks are very good and the food is tummy. It doesn't get better than that. We usually start with their enormous deluxe nacho appetizer and them move on from there. We've ordered most of what's on the menu over the last several years, and it's always been really good.

This is my absolute favorite restaurant in Tacoma. I love what the owners have done with the marriage of iron, wood and Fire. The decor is really cool. Very unique. The food is also, very tasty and The staff are always friendly. I really appreciate the happy hour menus And you can get really good food at a good price during those times. Because of that reason I make it a point to come in when it's slower. No wait and Good Eats!

This is the first time I've eaten at the Matador, I like the atmosphere. Food was OK, not exceptional. I had the street tacos, I had one of each, and I couldn't tell what type of meat each had. Each taco tasted the same. I will give it another try. 2/10/20 I am updating my review, I thought I would give it another try and ordered the street tacos again, WOW! They were so good this time, the meat was not dry like last time. I ordered they salsa on the side. I couldn't believe the difference.

Appetizers are quite filling an the menu changes with the seasons. We always look forward to the new additions to the menus.
The drinks are good too, especially the house margaritas which are a great value! Kudos to the establishment for everything they offer.

Real talk. Last night I had the best meal of my life here. Everything tastes so fresh, and you can tell that the folks making this care. I didnt know that you could make mushrooms taste that good - a hearty, meat-like flavor with an acidic tang. I got the Beyond Burrito, not expecting much as the usual application of Beyond Meat in Mexican food has left much to be desired in my opinion, but this was really good. The guacamole was the best I have ever had, hands down. I could taste every ingredient individually. I love Mexican and Mexican-inspired food and this place blew me away. It was SUPER busy but the serving staff were attentive, helpful, and quick to service. If you haven't yet, GO.
