Wooden City

Absolutely awesome restaurant! Seared scallops and the 1/2 chicken we're out of this world good. Best French onion soup I've had! Their cocktails were absolutey awesome and well made/unique. Cheesecake was a great way to finish the meal topped with blackberry jam. On top of all the awesome food and drinks, the server that helped us super cool and very relatable. Cool atmosphere as well!

Perfectly captures the quintessential PNW modern American dining experience. Rustic building features combined with contemporary touches throughout. Seating space is "intimate", not at all unique for a restaurant with this level popularity or aesthetic. I didn't mind as it makes it easier for me to stare at other diner's plates and engage in light conversation with them. However it was not my wife's preference. That aside we thoroughly enjoyed all of two hours here; taking full advantage of the menu from appetizers to dessert. We loved every bite. Oh,and do NOT skip out dessert. Only a couple offerings but they alone are enough to induce coming in as part of an evening on the town. Pricing is on par with that of similar restaurants in the Seattle area (my opinion). Our server was incredibly personable and knowledgeable. Never acted rushed or impatient even though they were near capacity. This restaurant is a great addition to Tacoma and is helping to bring a hip trendy food vibe into the downtown Tacoma area.

Outstanding is the best word for this place. I had beet ravioli, scallops, and salmon toasts, which are outside my normal Midwestern meat-and-potatoes repertoire. But everything was terrific--the beer too--exceptional! Arrive early to beat the crowds!

Wooden City always has the most amazing, fluctuating atmosphere. The beginning of happy hour is quiet and very peaceful, great for date night! Toward the end of happy hour, the bar gets lively and is full of people having genuine fun. The food is amazing, the bartenders are quick and perfect every time! :)

Second visit here was wonderful! Blistered peppers were fantastic! Sorry I didn't get a photo for you! My drink, a house specialty, the spritz was just perfect! Attentive, friendly service without being over bearing, After a mediocre first visit, this definitely hit the mark.
