“per the usual his taste for a food was on point! The building has been remodeled and it’s very fitting for the area. The pub has wall to wall shelving, decorated with Americana Nicknacks. They have a beautiful bar to pony up to and have a cold iced tea or you can bring your own alcoholic beverages as they have not received their liquor license yet. They have very nice enclosed patios in the front & back for outdoor seating. They have a little stage with a piano as well! Whether you’re looking for an original blend of coffee or looking for a tasty meal this is this a great place to stop in Friday through Sunday. We went with the wings, and The Kennison Run (Chicken Breast, Bacon, Chipotle Mayo, Cheese, Lettuce & Tomato. The wings were hand breaded, seriously one of the crispy, crunchy wings I’ve had in a while. Killer Wings. The sandwich was outstanding as well. They didn’t cheap out on the bun, which in my opinion is the most important part of the sandwich. I’ll be back in the fall when I visit Renick again. If you’re heading down 219 through Hillsboro do yourself a favor and stop in to the Pub for some affordable fare that is prepped to perfection!”

“This is such a charming place that is not too far from Snowshoe where my friend and I skied for a few days. It is much more affordable than staying at snowshoe and the owners are so friendly! We stayed on the top floor and it was very spacious/clean/cozy. We especially loved the homemade breakfast each morning. It was fantastic and such a treat! Paula even had gluten-free bread for my friend and I which was a nice surprise. One day she even made us gluten-free French toast which I haven’t had in years. That was such a kind gesture. I will definitely stay here again in the future if I go to snowshoe. Highly recommend!”

“Derek is a good ole local boy and barber from right here in Pocahontas County.. not only is he an excellent barber, his food is killer... we got the full treatment today.. not only did my son get a few inches taken off by him up the road, we then stopped on the way out to check out and try his smoked food.. it was amazing.. its cooked right on site on his smoker outside.. the meat was tender and the beans, coleslaw and potato salad was to die for.. y’all need a place to grab some grub that’s not only good but is greatly priced.. stop by and check it out.. you won’t be disappointed!!”

“Al's Upper Inn Club is not really a club much as a bar. It's the only bar in Durbin, so your bar crawl will be a limited one. It's a normal bar, but the folks are friendly and the bar dog is too. They have a pool table and a dart machine. Food is limited to the usual suspects, but good. Paint the town red and try it out!”

“I had to tap on the glass of the front window to wave off the incredibly generous staff about to give my 5-year-old an ice-cream cone as large as his head. I order a “Single Scoop.” A FANTASTIC spot just off the Greenbrier River Trail in downtown Marlinton. My local mom also attests to the excellence of the bbq sandwich and noted the equally important slaw on the sammich. If you’re in Marlinton or heading through on the trail, save room for a snack stop here.”

“This place is really cozy after a good day of shredding on the slopes at Snowshoe. It’s classic American food. Don’t try to order something healthy because it probably won’t be worth it, however I saw the Brussels sprouts and they looked decent. The ribs are awesome! They do indeed fall off the bone as the name on the menu implies. Believe me, I’m very picky about ribs. If you order the ribs and they aren’t perfectly cooked, then you’re not getting the ribs I had. Also, the coleslaw is really good. It does get packed during the season so plan to wait a bit and grab a drink. I don’t recommend the regular Mac n cheese. You can make a better batch at home. I’d definitely go back there on another trip.”

“My favorite pizza place at Snowshoe. They make one size pizza, a 12 inch, cooked in a real wood burning over. Has a neapolitan style crust. You can also get pizza by the slice but so far during the pandemic they have mostly been selling whole pizzas to go; I haven't see pizza slices. Delivery has also been affect recently because of the pandemic; pick up is the best way that has worked for me.”
