The appearance of Dumpling Haus is quite inviting. It piqued my interest a long time ago. Having finally entered, I felt a bit overwhelmed (granted it doesn't take much to overwhelm me). Above the register is a long list of items without prices. On the counter are menus. This led myself and a couple other customers to have to stand in the middle of the entrance reading the menu. This isn't terrible, but just a tad awkward. Something I feel could be improved. Food at the Dumpling Haus is the focal point here. Taste is amazing. Presentation is good. It all feels quality and authentic. A tad expensive, but to be expected in Hilldale Mall.
The "Haus" beef noodle soup was delicious, and the peanut sauce cold noodles literally made my girlfriend tear up in joy. There's a good variety of dumplings, baozi, and noodles and I will absolutely be coming again to try more of the menu. Also the honeydew green iced tea was very refreshing - it is unsweetened and light, which was a perfect pair for my flavorful noodles.
The food we ordered was good but not particularly any better than what I have had elsewhere. Our order was completed and brought to us in a reasonable amount of time. The restaurant was clean.
The dining area is somewhat sparsely decorated which makes it echoy. Even the normal conversation level of my toddler felt really loud in there making us concerned we were bothering other customers, so we did not stay long.
There are some parking spots in front of the door, but these were full the entire time we were there. There is a parking garage just a short walk away.
Their food is the best! All homemade comfort food style. The atmosphere tends to get fairly busy around lunch time so plan accordingly
