Porta Bella Restaurant

Very special place for my family! It has wonderful Italian food and salads! The homemade bread is wonderful! A must is a Porta Salad with a meal. Another app that is a must, spicy cheese bread! It is an old dinning experience by its decor. I miss the fountain room. Drinks can be uneven depends on the bartender. Wonderful wine selection. Near UW-Madison campus and State St! Parking acroas the street. Food is not cheap but the food is worth the price!

Started going there in the very late 60's when Paisan's was down stairs. The place was known as one of the top places for Italian food then and still is today. A Madison institution. The prices will reflect that. Tonight we sat out in the courtyard. Food was great, service was lacking, unfortunately, but the atmosphere was beautiful. They are usually sensitive to gluten-free customers, but tonight our waitress was not as informed as we needed. Long waits between visits even though the patio had other guests and waitstaff. Indoors is dark and dated. The first timer may not be able to appreciate the history of this place but we will always come to Porta Bella for the special experiences it provides.

Stopped in for lunch on a Saturday. Had the outdoor area all to ourselves. Our server was really nice and took good care of us. The beer was cold, the bread was warm, the garlic olive oil was awesome, and our meals were really good. Highly recommended!

The food was amazing. The staff exceptional. Our waitress was polite and attentive throughout the entire meal. The atmosphere was very relaxing. Made for a very nice dining experience. I would recommend this establishment.
