Rare Steakhouse

Absolutely everything that we get is always prepared perfectly. Our food comes out quickly, the wait staff works efficiently and are very observant, keeping cups filled and table cleared of dishes (they even scrape off the crumbs from under me after every course.) The ambiance is quite lovely, low lighting, romantic and a good selection of light music playing in the background. The creme brulee is one of my favorite that I've ever had. The waitress, in noticing that I liked the chocolate that they had up front, brought me a little to go container with a whole bunch to take home. It's service like this that makes me go back to places, time and time again. Thank you so much for consistantly providing such amazing service and food.

My husband and I try to dine here every year for our Anniversary. We recently enjoyed a wonderful meal. Absolutely everything was delicious. My husband even said that his drink was the best drink he has ever had. We highly recommend the dry aged bone in ribeye, crab cakes, and lobster bisque. We can’t wait to come back and dine here again!

I have been here numerous times. The service has always been above 5 stars. The food has always been amazing. Unfortunately, my friend, who had never been there before and I had bad service. We had a reservation at 8.30pm. We waited until 9pm and were told we would have to wait maybe another 10-20 minutes longer. The manager approached us and over heard us speaking about just eating in the bar!?!? For a 200 meal! He said well good. While we were at the bar, we were pretty much ignored. I was excited to have a her experience Rare, but neither of us will go back. It is a shame customer service is dead. The tartar came with a weird rice paper and was super spicy. The fillet was very good. The Brussel spouts were not so good. I did not order a drink or dessert like I normally do as I did not want to spend the money. I would have gone some where else, but it was 9pm.... this was bad management and poor customer service. At the price of the dinner you except more and a good experience. It was just plain disappointing after my other experiences there. For further reference, I have been a waiter and now a business owner. It's hard, put a smile on your face, apologize, offer a dessert, something. Step it up!

Good food, slow service. Went on a Thursday night. Its one of 2 steakhouses I had yet to try in Madison, have been to almost all of them already. Seemed like they only had one waiter for the entire half of the restaurant, spent about 2 hours there and most of that time was waiting for the server so we can order food, drinks, dessert. Food was better than expected, service was the slowest I've had in years anywhere. The servers assistant with glasses that spoke Spanish was very nice and made the evening more pleasant. Overall nice place, pricey food, and super slow service. Not sure if I'd want to go back unless its for a huge family dinner, the wait was just so long to even flag someone down for a drink.

Julio helped our table out tonight and he was absolutely amazing! I have never received better service. He was so patient when we had a lot of questions regarding the menu. Very personable and fun!
