Primal 'Cue Restaurant and Catering

Went to dinner here and had a double brisket burger, topped with cheese, bacon, and shaved brisket, with cornbread on the side. Absolutely delicious!
Also had their smoked old fashioned with bourbon made exclusively for them. Recommend highly.
Brandon, one of the owners, came over and chatted with us out on the patio about their processes and plans. He and the other staff were really personable and fun to chat with.

Primal ‘Cue is a nice little spot, and super underrated! The St. Louis ribs are incredibly tender, a contender for the best BBQ in the Madison area.

The ribs are definitely the star of the show! The rib tips were fantastic as well. They fall right off the bone, are ridiculously juicy, and smoked to perfection. The sauce they use is perfectly balanced. Also, their mustard fields sauce is probably the best mustard-BBQ we’ve tried in the area.

They have different daily specials. The brisket burgers exceeded expectations by a landslide. A perfect char on the outside, juicy tender ground brisket inside- allover a perfect burger experience.

The tacos they have on Tuesdays were full of flavor. We do wish they had a brisket taco, as opposed to the ground brisket! The pork and chicken tacos definitely stole the show. They were great on flour and corn tortillas, really just depending on your mood. Delicious for a BBQ taco.

The nachos were a great snack to have with some drinks as well. The tacos were the star of the show here, though.

We previously had criticisms of their sides, specifically the mac, but we got it again and they improved it tenfold from the last time we tried it. Super cheesy, perfectly seasoned. Zero complaints about the bourbon apples! They’re the perfect baked apple craving. The bourbon creates such a unique flavor profile.

All in all, we are now regulars here! Fantastic place with fantastic service, and they love hearing feedback from their customers. Those ribs will have us coming back as long as they serve ‘em!

For Sun Prairie - Primal Cue is a good spot for BBQ. We walked in which had a cute bar and you get to the counter to order your food. They also had outdoor seating which is nice.

Here is what we ordered. Three meat platter, ribs, brisket (fatty) and the sausage link. I’d have to rank this BBQ joint average and I do think people should certainly give it a try when you’re on this side of town.

Out of the three meats the sausage links were my favorite. The other two meats certainly needed the sauce. They had about five sauce option and we went with their primal sauce and their “spiciest” which our opinion wasn’t spicy but flavorful. I do think the meats were cooked well but again the flavor for us wasn’t quite there as we do appreciate a good “Smokey” flavor.

Mac n cheese was pretty decent - a side you’d want to get. Cornbread was a little dry for our taste buds but the honey butter certainly lay helped!

We are considering coming back to try other items such as their fish Friday specials, wings and burgers.

Stopped in for a quick dinner it was delicious. Had the 3 plate platter with ribs, brisket, and pulled pork. I liked you had options with the brisket, that way it’s always served to your liking. Food came out quick. Enjoyed the Mac n Cheese and beans as well! Plan to be back.

Our first time in this establishment, had no clue it was so amazing! We had ribs, pulled pork and the brisket burger...had to go back and get a full rack of ribs, they were The Best Ever in this customer's experience! Drinks are also available, good selection of beers. We will be back here as often as possible.
