Nice contemporary atmosphere with solid food. Seating in the main dining room is semi-formal while the outside area has a more casual vibe. That said, seating can get tight, so make a reservation or be prepared to wait. They have a number of cocktail tables that you can have a drink at while you wait for a table to free up. The tenderloin tail is my go to that is popular with everybody I've gone with.
My husband and I had dinner tonight at Barringer's and it was a great experience. The shrimp cocktail appetizer was excellent- we haven't had shrimp that tasty since Key West. And our main courses - crab cakes and cod - were both filling and flavorful. That's particularly important for cod, since the fish itself is somewhat bland. Good service and good atmosphere. Not inexpensive, but worth a splurge.
The word that keeps coming to mind is, 'vanilla.' Food was so-so, certainly not worth the price paid, but good. Cocktail menu was also very blah and extremely limited. Yet, the most disappointing aspects were the staff and atmosphere. The staff was kind, but not engaging, pleasant, or interesting - robotic. The atmosphere did nothing to contribute to the experience - just plain. A more aggressive and diverse cocktail menu, more creative decor and atmosphere, and a more engaging staff would do this - otherwise tasty - establishment good.
Had a wonderful lunch! Everything was great from the seafood platter, lobster rolls, to the frozen drinks, kids grilled cheese and the burgers are amazing! Super great, high quality food. Not the least expensive, but worth it.
Short Story: We had our wedding reception at Barringer’s, and it was the best decision we could have made.
Long Story: My husband and I met Cindy and JR while we were searching for a wedding venue in Door County. After a weekend of driving around the area, we were both tired and a little deflated because we hadn’t found “the spot” and it was time for us to leave. Luckily, Rob convinced me to make one last stop at Barringer's. Cindy and JR took the time to sit down with Rob and I, even though they were trying to open for the night and they told us about what our weekend could look like if they were a part of it. From that moment on, they took care of us -- making sure every detail was perfect. Cindy was so helpful, giving me guidance and assuring me we could bring my vision to life, and JR delivered a menu for both Friday and Saturday night that our friends and family are still talking about.
For our Friday welcome dinner, JR and team drove their food truck across the peninsula and served up an incredible lakeside meal right from the truck! Aside from the food being better than I could have imagined, the staff was friendly and attentive. They brought all dinnerware with them and took everything away making it easy to focus on hosting our guests.
Our reception at Barringer's on Saturday was above and beyond anything we could have imagined. They were extremely accommodating, even when myself and friends showed up during lunch hour to decorate the dining space. Everything was set up according to plan, and Dustin (the manager) made me feel confident that Saturday night would be everything I wanted. Everything was perfect. All of our guests came up to us at some point in the evening raving about how beautiful the space was and how much they loved the food.
I truly cannot thank Cindy, JR, Dustin, Deanna and the entire staff enough for the weekend, it was beyond whatever prior expectations we may have had. Barringer’s will always hold a special place in our hearts, and we will be back for lunch and dinner every time we are in Door County!
