“We stopped for some food, using old info on Google indicating a biergarten. The biergarten is kaput for this summer, but Deer Run has a good menu of choices. We had pulled pork sandwiches, which were delicious. The indoor seating area is small, but, they do have outdoor seating. There's a huge lawn on the Main Road side, so if you need a place where your kids can run around a bit while you wait for food, this could be your place. There is also mini-golf. Jordan served us and even had time to share tips on her favorite places on the island. She was just one of many truly friendly people on Washington Island. It may have been the weekend before Memorial Day, so everyone is fresh and ready to go, but I think Washington Island people seem extra nice.”

“We ate at this great little restaurant for lunch while staying on the island. I had the very best BLT that I have ever had, and I make them all the time at home. My husband had a wrap that he loved as well. I also had a piece of cherry pie for dessert that was just what I was having a hankering for for days. It was homemade. We ate outside at a picnic table and it was very relaxing and enjoyable. The service was also top notch and the server very friendly. There is a story behind this cute little restaurant and inn. This is a wonderful family who runs it. The mom is a pastor and adopted 6 children who were in the foster system. I am glad we chose this little gem for lunch and will visit again if we are in the area. You should too!”

“We had the daily soup today...a smoked whitefish chowder. Probably one of the best soups we've ever had anywhere. Lots of fish and beautiful veggies and herbs topped with pieces of extra smoked fish. The base stock has no loss of beautiful cream. WOW.”

“Ships wheel is a place with good food and a great view! There were these 2 sweet little girls that brought us our condiments and napkins. They were so cute. Katie was our waitress and she’s awesome very attentive and kind. Loved the chicken salad! They also made a Chicago dog the right way NO Ketchup just mustard!!! “Pretty decent food and staff was excellent. Loved being on the marina! I would say it’s a little dated and slightly overpriced. I enjoyed dinner, it’s definitely worth a try, but next time I visit the island I’ll probably try another restaurant.”
