“The food here is pretty good American comfort food. The burgers and sandwiches are served with choice of two sides! The staff and customer service has always been really good. This place is like if Jack Astor's was actually good. Definitely recommend! Skip out on Moxie's, Pickle Barrel, etc. I'd recommend the bison burger or their classic double patty house burger. The jalapeno cheddar mashed potatoes are very tasty too! State & Main is a Durham Region hot spot.”

“Incredible breakfast experience! This was the first time coming here and could not have been happier with my selection! From being greeted the moment we walked in to the amazing service that Denise (ASK FOR HER) to the incredible and savoury meal which included the strawberry crepe with the avocado omelette! Yum! Denise was attentive the entire time even though she was working 4 tables simultaneously. She greeted my 3 year old niece with some crayons and a sketch to colour while we patiently waited. The entire staff did well to work together as a team. This was the type of service and atmosphere that I wish was more evident elsewhere! Thank you Denise and team!”

“Had my wedding reception dinner here (very small reception of about 16 people). I was completely satisfied with Chatterpaul's. Every single person enjoyed themselves and their meal. There were only two things I wasn't all that pleased with: 1. I specifically asked for no wine glasses to be set up on the table, as I did not want to encourage alcohol beverages during our dinner. When organizing the dinner they specifically asked me if I wanted to have the glasses and a bottle of wine on the table and I told them no. With that being said, I was disappointed to see them on the table after arrangements were made. 2. The portion size for specific dishes were smaller than I had hoped. We had the set diamond menu, which I think was a great value and everything I had was delicious. Specifically the crab cake and shrimp was small, I expected more than one shrimp not going to lie. The dumplings were great though, delicious and good amount. For the dinner I had the Rib, it was a smaller portion in my opinion because I can eat! But it did taste good, the chicken parm was the better option, super delicious and the portion was good, definitely would order that next time. Lastly, the service was exceptional and Penny is so lovely. She even gave us a little wedding/parting gift, that I absolutely love! I still give 5 stars because it was one of the best experiences I've ever had for a group dinner at a restaurant.”

We were seated fairly quickly but waited about 15 minutes before we were greeted and had drink order taken by the server. The server was confused by our order and not very attentive. Was disappointing as we had hoped to enjoy a special occasion dinner and found it to just be average.”

“Decent pub food. Portions on the wings seemed a little light. Ordered a pound and a half, and another order at the table was two pounds. Both parties thought they were small. I had ten or eleven smallish wings in my order. My daughter said the honey garlic was really good. Burgers seemed to be the best food selection as everyone enjoyed the burger who ordered it :) Overall,the food tasted pretty good and service was good considering we had a party of eight.”
